The matched pair of dark bronze M 950 Microphones from Microtech Gefell includes two wide-cardioid microphones that combine a large-diaphragm capsule with semi-conductor circuit technology. The pair can be used to capture audio in broadcast, project, home, and professional studios and are well suited for use on a wide range of sources including singers, speakers, keyboards, strings, wind instruments, and more. Additionally, two mic holders and a KS25 stereo rail are supplied for easy positioning in stereo configurations.

The condenser microphone capsule delivers a smooth frequency response from 40 Hz to 20 kHz with a slight elevation from 7 to 11 kHz for additional presence. Its wide-cardioid polar pattern provides a forgiving pickup pattern allowing the mic to effectively capture sound from larger instruments and small ensembles. The transformerless circuit design provides for very-low self-noise for clean, distortion-free sound over a wide dynamic range. To reduce sensitivity to mechanical impact and structure borne noise, the microphone capsule and electronics are elastically suspended inside the compact metal housing.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Confused about correct MS config: The manual says white plug is channel 1 and red plug channel 2. But Sony product photos with camcorder show other way around. Which one is correct? I do not get proper stereo image when decoding mid side.

A: The XLR connectors for the Sony ECM-MS2 Stereo Electret Condenser Microphone are marked in different colors to indicate left and right. The red connector is for the right channel and the white connector is for the left channel. Channel 1 on the camera is typically for the left and channel 2 on the camera is typically for the right.

Q: 2. How long is the 5-pin to 2 3-pin XLR stereo breakout cable that is included?

A: The Superlux S502MKII ORTF Stereo Condenser Microphone (BH # SU502MKII) includes an approximately 0.6 meter breakout cable assembly.

Q: 3. How long are the XLR cables?

A: The ECM-MS2 from Sony features a permanently attached 15 cable.

Q: 4. I recently purchased the SONY PXW-X70 PROFESSIONAL XDCAM CAMCORDER. It comes with an XLR handle with microphone holder, but no mic. Is this the right one to pair with it? Are there other (better) options? I want to outfit the camera right. Thanks.

A: I purchased this microphone over a year ago for my PD150; and I've been very happy with it's performance and ease of use.

Q: 5. Is this microphone works with Sony pxw-fs5m2

A: Yes. This microphone will let you record stereo audio into the camera.

Q: 6. The female to 2x male XLR cable seems short. Is it meant to be just an adapter? I would be connecting the mic to a MIxPre-3 II.

A: Just buy yourself 2 XLR cables 10 to 15 ft and just use this as an extender with the cables the Rode NT4 comes with.

Q: 7. The grill looks similar on both sides. If I wanted to use this mic as a drum overhead, how should I position it? Which side would face downward?

A: With large condenser mics u would point it with whatever side has either the logo or the cardioid pattern symbol on it.

Q: 8. Can this mic be plugged into a Panasonic GH-4 camera which I believe supplies minimal power to some mics?

A: The GH4 will provide plug in power to some mics. The NT4 will require phantom power which is more than the 1-5 volts your camera can provide. You can however use the mic using a 9 volt battery which will power the mic, and a Stereo XLR to Mini 1/8 inch Cable is included in the package which allows for connection to your camera.

Q: 9. What's the best blimp/dead for this microphone?

A: The Rycote Mini Windjammer provides optimum wind diffusion for smaller microphones. Like the standard Windjammer, the Mini Windjammer provides 10 - 12dB extra protection over standard windscreens. This Windjammer accommodates the Rode NT4.

Q: 10. Is this mic compatible with the Sony HXR-NX3/1?

A: Yes it is. The camera will provide the phantom power that the mic requires. You might want to get these o-rings (SAROCS) to keep it in place if you mount it on the camera's mount.
