Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Do I need a CloudKey already or can I use this as a standalone unit?

A: A cloud key is not required.

Q: 2. This unit has two network ports. Can each be plugged into a different network and have an SSID that connects to a specific port?

A: No it supports only data pass through for the same network.

Q: 3. We installed one unit in the guest bedroom and the neon glows a bit much, can we cover the unit with material to dim the glow?

A: Hi! Rather than physically covering the unit, you may want to consider simply disabling the built in LED. To do this (using the desktop UniFi controller software): Login to the UniFi controller -- Select Settings (Gear icon) --Select Site -- Uncheck the option to enable the status LED -- Select Apply Changes. Please note that this applies to all of the access points you manage (unless you have set-up multiple sites); if you have more than one access point, all of their LEDs will be disabled. If you are using the mobile application to manage your device(s), the ability to disable the LED is coming in a future update. As for physically covering the unit, I suppose you could do so with minimal effects (depending on the material), but I would strongly suggest disabling the LED over covering the unit. The last thing you want is to adversely affect the signal emitted from the device.

Q: 4. I'd like to know how you can get up to 3000 Mb/s when the ethernet port is only 1000 Mb/s?

A: They are talking about wireless throughput which is broken down in two bands. 3000 Mb/s Total 5 GHz: 2400 Mb/s 2.4 GHz: 600 Mb/s You would not get 3000Mbps of internet speed. You could only get up to 1Gbps internet speed when using 5Ghz. The rest would just be more available bandwidth for local networking.

Q: 5. Does this come with a micro SD card?

A: According to information from Ubiquiti on what's provided in the box, it does not.

Q: 6. Can this product be installed in a dry location on a screened porch?

A: The Ubiquiti Networks UniFi IW HD In-Wall Wi-Fi Access Point BH #UBUAPIWHDUS is designed for indoor use but it might be ok if you are sure it will be dry and it won't be exposed to direct sunlight. It is rated to work at: Operating Temperature: -10 to 60° C (14 to 140° F) Operating Humidity: 5 to 95% Noncondensing

Q: 7. Does this product come with a POE Injector or do you need that separately?

A: This model does not come bundled with the injector, it would need to be purchased separately.

Q: 8. Am I able to do software upgrade to the Reader G2 pro?

A: The Ubiquiti Networks UniFi Access Reader G2 Professional (White), BH # UBUFARG2P, will accept available firmware/software updates.

Q: 9. Can this unit be mounted on wall vs ceiling?

A: Yes, included with the product would even be a wall mount option

Q: 10. Does each one of the modules require hardwire (RJ45) connection to main unit?

A: This unit will need to be connected to a switch for POE power
