Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What is the difference between this and the older, cheaper Kase clip-in filter for Nikon Z, the KA1128030001?

A: This Kase Clip-in R-MCUV filter is multicoated and reduces ghosting, glare, and flares. The other filter is only a clear UV filter meant to protect the sensor.

Q: 2. What are the key differences between a Canon R50 and R10?

A: The Canon EOS R10 Mirrorless Camera would be faster than the Canon EOS R50 Mirrorless Camera with some higher quality video features. The R50 has some more buttons and dials for easier direct control.

Q: 3. For how long can R50 stream Full HD 25p over Hdmi, without overheating? (internal recording is not needed while streaming)

A: The Canon R50 was just released. At this time there is no time frame listed as to how long it can stream with out issues. As time goes more information should be in. In general like many cameras it should not really have limit. And best to pull the screen away from the body and to use an external power source.

Q: 4. When I am using Av mode what is the upper time limit? Am I able to shoot up to the 30 second limit in M mode?

A: Yes, setting your selection of the Av or M mode on the top dial still allows you to use up to the 30-second shutter limit on the Canon EOS R50 Mirrorless Camera (Black) (B&H# CAER50). As with almost any similar camera, the bulb mode may be used for shots longer than that, and the shutter will remain open until you close it even several minutes later.

Q: 5. Will the Canon R8 & R50 accept the Canon speedlite EL-100?

A: The Canon EOS R8 and R50 would require the Canon AD-E1 Multi-Function Shoe Adapter. BH # CAOCSAADE1 to use the Canon EL-100 Speedlite. https://bhpho.to/3V0nhCr

Q: 8. Does it have a headphone input? if no, how can I monitor the audio?

A: No, the Canon R50 does not offer any headphone jack.

Q: 9. Can you use a hot shoe mount or flash with this camera?

A: Yes Canon EOS R50 Mirrorless Camera with 18-45mm Lens (Black) accepts flashes that have multi function shoe like the Canon EL5. If you use the Canon AD-E1 Multi-Function Shoe Adapter on the R50 you can use legacy flashes that don't have the multi function shoe. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1663792-REG/canon_4943c001_ad_e1_multi_function_shoe_adapter.html

Q: 10. Will the R50 fit the EOS lenses?

A: The Canon EOS R50 Mirrorless Camera has a Canon RF lens mount. The two lenses included in the Canon EOS R50 Mirrorless Camera with 18-45mm and 55-210mm Lenses (Black) also have Canon RF lens mounts and are compatible with the camera. If you have Canon EF or EF-S lenses for a Canon DSLR, you could use those lenses with the Canon Mount Adapter EF-EOS R. Here is the link: https://bhpho.to/2MENgLL.

I am loving everything about this camera! My only complaint is that the Meike (maybe just mine) drop-in filter ef/ef-s adapter requires me to press quite hard into my R50 for it to lock in place... other than that, I love it!

I got the Canon R50 for everyday use and find it to be perfect for that. I have a full mirrorless system for professional use, but it's big and heavy and not fun to carry around with the kids for home documentation.

Using the R50 with the kit 18-150mm lens is perfect for those trips to the zoo, playing in the park, or just everyday activities. Having a large sensor with a nice zoom gives you something you simply can't have with an iPhone. The colors on this camera look fantastic as well. I love the newer canon color science and the sensor and autofocus performance in the R50 is coming from much higher end cameras from canon. Really impressive.

Also, if you're needing a solid camera for YouTube videos or even something to level up your zoom calls, using this camera is perfect for that.

Are there better cameras out there? Yes of course... but this camera is a great price, and now with the newer sensor and autofocus, I feel the R50 is the best budget camera on the market and it is a worthy upgrade from the famous M50.

The Canon R50 was my first camera in about 12 years. An old Lumix of mine was stolen years ago and I've always wanted a replacement. As the years went by, now seemed like a great time to check out the market once more. As I realized that the new tech was going with mirrorless designs I did my research and landed on the R50 as an affordable, yet highly capable, replacement for my decade-old Lumix.

I instantly fell in love. The camera and the new RF lenses Canon is still releasing to this day combine for outstanding quality and ease of use. The AF is stellar, the LCD screen is a lifesaver, and having an EVF is crucial on those super sunny days. For my needs, the R50 immediately met and surpassed my expectations. Plus, I am just learning how to manually shoot, and seeing what this camera can do from pictures and videos I've already seen has me excited about how well I can tune the R50 and develop my skills even further. I have nothing but positive things to say so far. If that changes, I'll update this review. Thanks and buy Canon all day!

I've had this for about 3 months now and absolutely love it. This is exactly what I wanted; it's small, light weight, easy to use, has all the functions I could ask for, and it takes amazing photos! The camera and the lens are much better than what I expected for the price, I can not imagine what else a person could want at this price point. I love the flip-around screen that can be tucked away for safe keeping. The thing that has sold me more than anything on this little mirrorless is the viewfinder. The viewfinder is phenomenal, it literally looks better than real life. A few years ago I had a camera with a digital viewfinder and I did not like it at all. The technology for the viewfinders has now caught up to where it should be and it's awesome! One very minor negative about the whole package is that it is so small and compact, the buttons can be a bit hard to use. If you're wearing gloves it might be hopeless...

I have a dozen t3i, t6i, t8i, and 60D as uscope cameras on trinoc port. This first R50 is to replace them. And I am so happy with the outcome this R50, as a moderately priced mirrorless, to use on the uscopes.
Having used EOS Util for many years, this is a seamless upgrade for
me. The test was a success. Hope to get 3 more before TDay/Xmas, another 4 next Fall, and 2x in F2025. Thanks BH & Canon.....

I know it’s a lower end mirror less but compared to my t6 and t7 it’s clearly superior It does exactly what the description says it should do. many more features.
Wish it had auto sequential exposure bracket shooting. White balance and focus bracketing is pretty neat.
The exposure bracket is successive on manual successive presses. Still nice!

As my first camera, I am happy with it after 3 months of use. I think it is a great teaching camera. I am learning a lot and feel like I can take the photos I want to take. It doesn’t pressure me to buy new lens or a new body. I get at a pretty good price the ability to take photos that surprise me. I recently was gifted a 16mm lens and that made me more addicted. I like the control rings too. The only consistent issue I have is when I am walking around with it in my hand sometimes I will trigger the shutter settings to take multiple photos at once or to the 3s timer option. I think something that makes this camera fun for me is the point and shoot ease with jpg. Eventually I did switch to raw and learned more about aperture and iso. The auto focus was really nice and I have played around with a few of the other modes. Video capture is good. I can’t say too much about it but I do like the quality. The audio it captures is meh but I assume I will need actual mics and proper sound equipment because it tried to capture everything. Overall great for my level of experience and I look forward to taking it with me as I travel
