If you purchase this flash knowing that it in no way will compare to the 430 EX or 580 EX II flashes as far as features, power, or usability are concerned, you will be more than happy with it. If you want an upgrade over the unit installed on the camera, this will definitely provide you with a little more control of the direction of the flash and better picture quality. Especially for it's price point, this is the perfect entry into learning flag photography. As more advanced techniques are used such as bouncing, one of the larger models should definitely be considered. Anyone that gives this a negative review is expecting much more than this unit was designed to do. This should in no way be confused with a pro unit but will make the casual photog very happy

I love this little flash. It drops nice soft light on your subject. It is especially nice for family functions or travel.

This flash works great with the Canon 5D MarkII. I missed my 'pop-up' flash and bought the 270EX to give me that extra pulse of light I sometimes need. I use it for macro photography and subjects that are fairly close. It is compact, easy to attach and use.

I use this with my G11 and it just doesn't get any better for a fully compact, manual, portable set up. Most of the time, this combo is used for party pics and it gets tossed in my saddle bag when I'm riding around on my Harley. When used as a bounce flash, the photos look fantastic!

Our granddaughter is starting a career as a photographer and this was what she was told was the best for what she would be doing. She was tickled--that made us happy. When we get Christmas paid for, I'll order one for my Rebel. ... I am very pleased and will use you again when I can. Thank you.

I bought one of these for my Canon G11. I liked it so much, that I bought this one as a birthday present for a very good friend to use on his G9. It is small, light, and powerful. It has tele-zoom and bounce capability. I added a diffuser, and the photos are superb. I would not expect it to match my 580, but that isn't what it is supposed to do.

When the Speedlite 220 I used with my Canon PowerShot G10 broke, I purchased a Speedlite 270EX to replace it. I was suprised how differently the newer Speedlite 270 EX was designed. I was even more surprised at how well the 270 performs. The light spread so evenly I compare using the Speedlite 270 alone to using the old 220 with a flash bracket. Even if it moves in only along one axis, the flash bounce was an great addition to the designed. Best of all, the Speedlite 270 is just as compact as the 220, so it can be easily carried.
