$5,625.00 $7,425.00

The 6.5" Rainbow II On-Camera Monitor from Transvideo delivers 420 nits of brightness and is ideal for body-rig, film, and high-end DV applications. It is a native 16:9 LCD monitor, but the aspect ratio can also be switched to 4:3 or anamorphic 1:2.35. The auto-reverse function (specifically designed for body-mount operators) automatically reverses the image when the monitor is turned upside down.

The 6.5" Rainbow II has three composite video inputs, a straight video output, and a processed video output. The output follows the ratio setting; if the monitor is set to 16:9, then the processed video output will be 16:9. This processed signal can be fed to other monitors, recorders, or transmitters.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What is the display resolution? (missing from specs)

A: According to Transvideo, the resolution is 1280 x 720.

Q: 2. When viewing insects, is there a significant difference between the 8.5x21 and the 6.5x21?

A: I bought my 6.5x21 to view butterflies and small day flying moths. It's a trade off between the 8.5 and the 6.5 as the answers below mention. I have only tried a friend's 8.5 once, but I had some trouble locating my subject after it moved. The 6.5 has served me well and I have yet to need more magnification. I made the right choice for myself with the 6.5. They are also great for viewing all sorts of subjects, from flowers to mountains. I love them.

Q: 3. Do these work with any solar filters, eg Alpine Astronomical 50mm Baader AstroSolar White-Light Solar Filter for Binoculars?

A: The Pentax 6.5x21 U-Series Papilio II Binoculars can be used with this Alpine solar filter sheet. It would need to be trimmed down and attached to the binoculars with tape or a rubber band: https://bit.ly/3SpRx9p

Q: 4. How low does the PD pupillary distance go? Ie use with children

A: So I contacted Ricoh directly. Unfortunately they were unable to provide us with these Specifications. My sincere apologies.

Q: 5. Is it possible to buy just the frame and not the lights?

A: Unfortunately, the frame is not available with out the lights.

Q: 6. Does it support HD-SDI ? HDMI ?

A: This unit was the first reliable wireless video transmitter/receiver set made. As such, unfortunately it is only SDI, no HD and no HDMI. Today however, there are many such devices. Paralink or Teradek would be two brands to consider. Paralinx Triton 1:1 Wireless Video System B&H # PATR11 (HDMI only) or Teradek Bolt Pro 300 Wireless HD-SDI/HDMI Dual Format Video Transmitter/Receiver Set (Both HMI and HD-SDI) B&H # TE100930.

Q: 7. Is there a setting for a natural warm light?

A: Yes when not in color mode it can be adjusted from 2700 to 10,000K.

Q: 8. What is the CRI below 3200k, specifically 2700k?

A: When measured with our spectrometer (Sekonic C-800), the Savage Rainbow RGB ring light measured 91.4~91.6 on the color rendering index.

Q: 9. Would this work connecting a Zephyr Steadicam to power a Sony FX9?

A: The Transvideo 3-Pin LEMO to Pag Jack 12V Power Cable for Steadicam Clipper II would not work as a means to power the Sony FX9 from the Zephyr Steadicam, as the voltage is too low and the connector is not the correct type.

Q: 10. Do Papilio have Serial number? And where to look for it?

A: on the left underside- spread the binoculars to their widest interpulillary distance and the whole data plate will be visible- will show ricoh imaging and made in china and the serial # (6 digits for my papillio I and II)

I came from Mackie MR5 mk1's that I owned for many many years. These have a deeper, tighter bass. I like the high end through these too. It's not brash. Sound stage is pretty wide.

I briefly owned Kali LP6 but returned them due to the noisey Class D amps that sounded like a waterfall (white noise) in a quieter room from 2-3 feet away.

These Mackies have a Class A/B amp design that is much much quieter. Plus the Mackies just sound tighter to my ears. Esp in the low end. More mid definition too compared to the Kali monitors. The enclosure of the Kalis was a flexy cheap plastic. These Mackies are a lot more sturdy.

I'm happy. I would probably give these a 4.5/5 if I could. And the LP6 a 3.

Coming from MR5's Mk1 these are a great upgrade. Also more stylish for our studio than the JBL's or others that have that lacquer-finish plastic all over it.
