This 5 x 5" Tiffen ND Filter is a solid neutral density filter providing a 1-stop exposure reduction. This 0.3 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. By increasing your aperture or slowing your exposure time, you are able to control depth of field and convey movement more easily. Neutral density filters do not affect the coloration of the image and are ideal for pairing with other filters.

This filter is made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between two pieces of optical glass and grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch. This filter measures 5 x 5" / 127 x 127mm.

A: You can answer your question, by looking at the threaded, filter end of your Sony lens, where the correct size should be printed on the bezel. Good luck!

Q: 2. Will this work in the lee 4x4 filter holder?

A: Tiffen ND filters are 4mm thick, while Lee filters are 2mm thick. This will work in the Lee holder as long as you have the one which you can modify to accept 4mm filters. Tiffen will be releasing a filter holder designed to hold two 4mm filters within the next few months. Keep an eye out for the Pro 100 Series Filter Holder, coming soon.

Q: 3. Does this filter produce a color cast?

A: This is a 2 stop ND filter. The lighter densities typically do not result in any Infra Red (IR) pollution (color shift). This is typically found when using darker density ND filters without any IR protection. These filters are used for long exposures during which both visible and IR light hit your cameras sensor. The IR light causes the color shift (not the filter). If you plan on shooting any ND filters with darker densities we recommend the Tiffen IRND or NATural ND filters, both have IR protection built in.

A: No it does not have hard stops, but the stops are clearly marked on the outer perimeter with white dots.

A: There is a good chance that there will be vignetting on the Tokina 12-24 when using a variable ND filter such as the Tiffen 77mm.

A: I can't help you with the video, but I use it a lot in my still photography because it gives you maximum creative control in/of such a wide variety of light conditions. Reduce depth, slow the movement of water or action or whatever as little or as much as you want - with one filter. I used to have to carry a number of ND filters and then it was an on-off affair until I found the one I wanted - by which time the light had often changed! The filter's quality is excellent and the filter is really smooth to operate. Yeah, it's pricey - but not when you consider that it's replacing three or four fixed ND filters in the range it covers. A: The use of hte Tiffen 82mm Variable Neutral Density Filter is to reduce the amount of light getting to through the lens. Many use this to shoot wide open and or at a very slow shutter speed. It is not made to increase saturation.

Q: 10. Is there a touchbased LIDAR capability to track subjects similar to DJI Pro grip?

A: While the Teradek RT - CTRL.5 does not currently have a Touch to Focus feature, Teradek is planning to include a similar feature on later firmware updates. Whether tracking is included is not known at this time.
