Q: 1. One of the reviewers said that The HDMI inputs have scalers/framesyncs on them so they will take almost any signal with no issue . Is it right? In official spec's there is such information: As with most HD video switchers, the SE-1200MU will expect all video inputs to beoperating at the same video standard as theswitcher itself .

A: The SE-1200 requires all the cameras to be the same resolution in order to work properly. So if you set SE-1200 to 720p, then the cameras need to be 720p, etc. However, it does have framesync. Side note, the HDMI will scale up to 1080p on the output, but if you use HDSDI, then you it will scale back to 1080i so maybe that is what you mean by scaling.Craig

Q: 2. Can I use this witcher with composite video out, like the one on datavideo se-500

A: Hello, No, BNC connector on the SE-500 is for a Composite signal input. Our SE-1200MU switcher is a HD switcher that accepts HD-SDI or HDMI signals. It is compatible with Composite output from a consumer camera.

Q: 3. it is work with alpha key & fill inputs to make a layer inside it?

A: This switcher has the ability to Chroma Key and it also has two Downstream Keyers for bringing in graphics and titles.

Q: 4. Are both HDMI outputs assignable? Or is one used for the multiviewer? I'd like to use one as the multiviewer and other HDMI output feed into a recording/streaming device.

A: The SE-1200MU has one assignable HDMI output and two assignable SDI outputs. The second HDMI output is for the multi-view only.

Q: 5. How loud is the SE-650 in db? I want to use it in conjunction with a podcasting setup, where every noise is a no-no. Some units have load fan noise.

A: The manufacturer was unable to provide an accurate db level for this product. Their recommendation was, if considering another product is an options, to possibly look into the SE-500MU - https://bhpho.to/3dpW5GG which they regard to be "whisper quiet"

Q: 6. where do you record the video?

A: The Datavideo SE-1200MU has SDI outputs that you can use with recording devices. The Atomos Samurai Blade is a nice option to record directly to a Solid State Drive. You can also look in to an H.264 encoder for both recording and streaming, such as the Datavideo NVS-25.

Q: 7. It can be use with a sennheiser MD421?

A: This reflection filter can be used with the Sennheiser MD 421 dynamic microphone to prevent unwanted ambient sound.

Q: 8. As far as i understand from current pdf spec's sheet from datavideo this unit doesn't have software audio mixer? I.e. i can assign sound channel from any sdi or hdmi input to any output but cannot mix different sources (for example XLR + SDI2) to one output? Maybe there is a changes connected with a new firmware or software?

A: The main idea with SE-1200 is to use an external audio mixer then connect it to the XLR inputs of SE-1200. If you would like to also mix a camera audio input with the other audio, then you could use a Datavideo audio de-embedder (DAC-90) which will extract the audio from the SDI then allow you to connect it to an external audio mixer. If you only need 4 inputs instead of 6, you may want to consider the SE-650. It does have a built in audio mixer which would allow you to control audio levels on an embedded audio signal from HDMI or SDI camera input. The price is lower and you don't need a control surface since it's built into the switcher.Craig

Q: 9. Does This Have PIP in it? Because I'm really liking this one than the Blackmagic Switchers out there, I'm comparing it to the Datavideo SE-2200 Which has the same 6 channel inputs but that one has a little bit of advantage than this one. I.E 2x PIP and the Overlay Thing. So does this have a PIP then?

A: Yes it does, the Datavideo SE-1200MU does offer a Picture-In-Picture effect.

Q: 10. Is there a control surface that will work with the RS422 port on this?

A: The SE-1200MU is designed to be fully controlled from any Windows Laptop/PC and Android tablet, iPad or Mac with the included SE-1200 software control panel. Datavideo does not make a control surface for it, the RS422 port is for integration with Crestron Control Panels.
