Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this work with the older Decklink 4k Extreme?

A: The Blackmagic Design Decklink HDMI 2.0 & Optical Fiber Mezzanine Card for Decklink 4K Extreme 12G is only compatible with the DeckLink 4K Extreme 12G.

Q: 2. does this work with fcpx?

A: AJA does show FCP X on their website for compatibility.

Q: 3. Are the output ports mirrored or can I send different output content to them independently?

A: Both outputs can be used simultaneously at all times, and the HDMI output can be connected directly into 4K HDMI monitors for monitoring HDR video in PQ, HLG, HDR10, and Dolby Vision formats with third-party support.

Q: 4. Do you need HDMI 2.0 to be able to do 3840x2160 at 60 fps or this converter with HDMI 1.4 can do 3840x2160 at 60 fps ? I thought HDMI 1.4 maximum frame rate at 3840x2160 resolution was 30 fps.

A: You would need HDMI 2.0 for UHD at 60 fps, which this converter does support as well. So if you have a device that outputs HDMI 2.0, it will work with this converter.

Q: 5. Can it output from Macs that don't have support for external HDR displays?

A: The AJA T-TAP Pro Thunderbolt 3-Powered Converter with 12G-SDI and HDMI 2.0 Output would support the following applications and allow you to output to HDR displays. See software compatibility. https://bit.ly/3GFz7dP

Q: 6. Can I use this device to convert a 4K 60, 10-bit 4:4:4 video signal coming from my Decklink Pro 8K over four 3G-SDI Cables to an HDMI 2.0 (without loss of quality)?

A: Yes, that should be possible with this unit.

Q: 7. Can this output different formats between the two outputs?

A: No it can not. The SDI and the HDMI outputs must be the same resolution.

Q: 8. The overview lists compatibility with Mac OS 10 and 11 but does not mention OS 12 or 13. Is this box really that far behind?

A: The AJA T-TAP Pro Thunderbolt 3-Powered Converter with 12G-SDI and HDMI 2.0 Output is compatible with the latest version of MacOS as well as the latest silicone chips.

Q: 9. I shoot in 4K and edit in HD. Can T-Tap Pro take a 4K signal and downconvert to HD for playback?

A: The AJA T-TAP Pro does not have built in downconverters. However, depending on the editing software, like Premiere Pro. You can have UHD/4K sequence and have the playback setting “match control panel” in Premiere Pro preferences with the T-tap Pro format set to HD/2K to playout.

Q: 10. Does this work with Davinci Resolve Studio?

A: Unfortunately, the AJA T-TAP Pro Thunderbolt 3-Powered Converter with 12G-SDI and HDMI 2.0 Output is not compatible with Blackmagic Design Davinci Resolve. Blackmagic Design is particular with its expansion devices and will need its own models.
