Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this suitable for a D200 ?

A: As near as I can tell from this description, yes. Unlike regular AF lenses these lenses have a built-in focus motor and can be used on any camera body whether the body has a focus motor or not. Required for Autofocus operation with the D5300, D5200, D5100, D5000, D3300, D3200, D3100, D3000, D60, D40X, and D40. So the autofocus won't work on a D200.

Q: 2. is this lens better than the tamron sp 70-300mm di vc usd f/4-5.6?

A: I have never used the Tamron, but I love my Nikkor. I shoot soccer games for my kids teams and get great results. I read a ton of reviews and the consensus was it was a great value, and I agree.

Q: 3. Is this lens compatible with the NIKON D3100?

A: The AF-S 70-300mm lens is fully compatible with the Nikon D3100, including autofocus.

Q: 4. Is there a teleconverter that will work with this lens?

A: The Nikon AF-S 70-300mm lens would only be compatible with a third party teleconverter, such as one from Bower or Kenko, however please note that you will lose autofocus using a teleconverter with this lens. Compatible teleconverters can be found here: http://bhpho.to/1d29DH3

Q: 5. What Nikon cameras is this lense compatible with?

A: All DX and FX Nikon bodies will take it.It's a great lens!

Q: 6. Hi this lens is vr 2 and made in which country

A: Thailand.

Q: 7. If I am shooting moving objects and I have currently the Nikon 55-300, is it worth the upgrade to the 70-300? What differences will I notice?

A: Im considering buying the 70-300. I just went to Best Buy to compare these 2 lenses side by side. I was impressed with both but the 70-300 auto focus was noticeably faster. Other than that there wasnt much difference. I think this lens will work better if you shoot sports. Also I like the manual focus ring on this lens better than the 55-300

Q: 8. will this work for Coolpix l810?

A: this lens is intended for a Nikon SLR-type digital camera and cannot be used for a point-and-shoot, like a Coolpix

Q: 9. Hi, Is this lens still being manufactured or has Nikon dropped it?

A: A high quality lens like this can be hard to find. You may find one in the used lens department.

Q: 10. Is this compatible with the Nikon D40x?

A: Yes, the Nikon 55-200mm f/4-5.6G ED AF-S DX Autofocus Lens is compatible with the Nikon D40X.

If you cannot afford a very expensive lens and you want good zoom, the 70-300mm Nikkor VR is for you. The size is ok for the range and if you are just an amateur, you will be fine with this lens. I would recommend it.

I bought this lens for a little more zoom for my daughters softball games. I absolutely love it. It takes awesome photos. I even used it to take some Senior pictures and they turned out great. I haven't found anything I don't like yet. Lynn

I use this lens for pretty much everything: Portraits, landscapes, wild life, sports, and the list goes on. The VR in the lens makes everything worth while. Without it the pictures turn out blurry and very un-amazing. VR is worth every penny. The lens itself is very durable, solid, and my favorite part - no lens creep. Other photographers know what you're using, and it's an instant respect lens too. Nothing can beat a Nikkor lens on a Nikon. They are the perfect marriage. The clarity is unmatched for the price, the zoom in a crop sensor is 450mm, and the feel is amazing. My favorite demonstration was using 2 D90s, 1 with this lens and 1 with a 300mm sigma. Both photographers shot pictures of wake boarders 500 feet off the shore. The sigma's pictures looked ok, but there was obvious blur. The Nikkor's pictures were so crisp, you could read the small stickers on the board, and count the water droplets flying off the board.

I almost laughed when I first attached the lens to my camera and used the auto focus. The sound of it as it focused itself was a real treat. So quiet and smooth. It just made me happy. I do photography for real estate homes and had a hard time with small rooms. With my new lens I can get the entire room in two shots. It now has a permanent spot in my camera bag.

I OWN A TAMERON 70-300MM LENS, MANUAL FOCUS, IT TAKES GREAT PICTURES, BUT NOW THAT I BOUGHT THE NIKON 70-300MM VR LENS, THAT IS MY PRIMARY LENS ON MY NIKON D90, THE AUTO FOCUS & VR IS A GREAT FEATURE

For those users looking for a terrific high-power zoom lens, I highly recommend this model. With VR and an effective range of 105-450mm on Nikon DX sensors, this lens perfectly complements standard lenses and bundles while giving a zoom range comparable to high-end, much more expensive models.

As a professional photographer, I was hesitant to add this lens to my equipment due to the fact that a $+ lens might not be sharp. Was I wrong, this lens is great & lighter than my 70-200 2.8. With my D700, shooting at a higher ISO is no problem making the speed of the 4.5-5.6 insignificant. What a pleasure this lens is to have.
