Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can this bag's shoulder strap go across my chest? Putting any kind of bag on my shoulder is a good way for it to fall off.

A: To accurately answer this question requires a bit more somatic information. I stand six feet and weight 162 pounds. The shoulder strap expands allowing me to place it across my chest. The bag will ride at waist level. This is my third F-2 in 35 years. I continue to use the other two. One I've had since the early nineties (the other from mid-eighties) is stretched out and hangs a bit lower. The older bags have only one point for strap adjustment this newer bag has two. I have lengthened the strap on one side to its maximum leaving about 6 inches remaining on the other side. The bag material new is stiff at first though over time and with use softens and stretches somewhat.

Q: 2. Can I fit a 6d w/ kit lens and a film slr with a 50 prime in this bag and still carry 2 spare lenses?

A: The case would not be able to accomodate that gear list with the lenses mounted to the cameras. You would be able to fit 4 total lenses in the center of the bag, and one body on each side of it in the main compartment, but without the lenses mounted.

Q: 3. While going through the review, I read that ruggedwear bags are thinner than the original bag. I am not sure if it is true or not. Can you check on that? If that is the case, I will go for the original F-2 bag

A: Yes, I am sitting next to one of each right now. The ruggedwear bag seems to be a slightly different material than the original. But it is coated with a waterproof coating that still makes it very tough (and repels moisture, which the original really doesn't much). I also received a tin of additional waterproofing (they call it refinishing wax), so you can reapply as necessary).

Q: 4. Is there a sleeve for some A4 size documents please?

A: There is a rear pocket that will neatly fit a 25cm X 18cm notebook but it will not fit a folder of A4 paper unfolded. The rear pocket is fine for a small tablet or spiral bound note pad or engagement book but not full sized documents.

Q: 5. Would this fit a 1DX+lens ?

A: I don't know the dimensions of your camera and lens. The two removable inner compartments are designed to fit smaller gear. That being said, it fits my D7100 and long 150-600mm lens. You can remove the padded compartments to fit longer gear. That does, however, obviously leave you without padding. It would have been much better designed with configurable padding. The outside is great; the inside a disappointment. Five stars if you have small gear. Three stars if your gear is larger.

Q: 6. Looking at F2 Rugged and the nylon version. Do either come with any type of cover or is one more rain resistant than the other?

A: While neither version comes with a cover, they are equally water resistant.

Q: 7. Does the interior measurements take into account the rubberized piece?

A: Yes the interior dimensions do take the rubberized portion into account.

Q: 8. Will it take a canon EOS60d plus lenses and stuff ?

A: Yes you would have more than enough room for your equipment listed.

Q: 9. Could this bag carry EFS-18-55mm macro lens,EF 75-300mm F/4-5.6III,EF 70-200mm F/4L IS USM Canon Rebel T5 1200D camera and accessory?

A: Yes, it will hold all your gear.

Q: 10. Is there any protective foam (or padding) in those two large end pockets outside the bag's main compartment?

A: The Domke F-2 Original Shoulder Bag Limited Edition Ripstop Nylon (Black) has six padded adjustable compartments and a removeable padded bottom. The side interiors are not padded.

I have had more than 10 bags over the years, and this is perfect...well, wish a little bit bigger was offered in rugged. Had hard cases, backpacks, shoulders and sling...this fits the bill for most occasions. Excellent build quality. Can't carry all of my stuff, but rarely do I need it all so I have to pick and choose more carefully.

I bought this bag because I have a family member who bought one over 20 years ago and she uses it for her camera's and it is still in perfect conditions. It has gone through all kinds of Chicago weather and is still fantastic. She had nothing bad to say about her Domke Bag. When i was trying to decide which bag to get I was not sure if I wanted the F-2 Ruggedwear or the F-1X. Finally my boyfriend convinced me that the F-1X would just be way to big so i got the F-2. The size is more then perfect it is so comfortable on my shoulder. I have a canon 5d mark2 with the battery grip and four lenses not including the 50mm on the camera. Everything fits fantastically. I am in love with this bag! i have nothing negative to say about this product!

Got this bag as a light weight option to lug around instead of my Pelican hard case. Takes my D-300 (with extended grip), 80-200, 50mm, and 18-120 lenses, flash, and several accessories with no problems. End compartments hold battery charger and extra batteries. Side pockets hold meter and other gadgets. Very pleased with bag.

F-2 Shoulder Bag is a great DSLR bag. I mainly shoot video and all of my gear fits snugly in the many compartments. The bag was a bit smaller than I had hoped, but it does the job. It's very rugged and seems like it will last for many years to come.

I love this bag!! I had Lowepro bags before this one that I still use, but I love the domke bag because it doesn't look like a typical camera bag (I mean, who designs most bags? They look so dorky!) It is really well thought out, without being overly bulky. It has really well thought out places for cards, papers, and a removable padded area and bottom in case it needs washing. Plus, I really like that it has clips instead of big velcro patches or zippers- when you're shooting a quiet event, ripping open a velcro'd or zippered bag is really loud, especially at a pivotal moment! The shoulder strap is great- the gripper material really holds in place, better than the overbuilt strap on my Lowepro Stealth reporter bag.

This bag is perfect. If you're on the fence, go ahead and buy it. No regrets. I have a 50mm fixed, a 17-55, a 24-70, a 70-200 2.8, 430 exII flash, all my accessories, wires, camera body with grip, etc... and everything fits great.

D80 with 18-270m attached, 3 or 4 other lenses, sb-900, room for extras. This bag does the trick. I am very happy with the design, weight and look of the bag. Does not advertise that you're carrying a bunch of expensive equipment. Padding could be a bit better on outer walls, but then you would give up the ability for the bag to form fit and mold to your side. I love the bag and will buy another one in a different color for my other gear. Bag is a bit stiff when you get it but does not take long to break it in.

Firstly, what an absolutely gorgeous bag! I needed something a little larger than my Tamrac 8845 backpack, and a little more responsible-looking for different occasions. I settled on this bag after alot of shopping, and couldn't be happier! It holds my Canon 50D w/ grip along one side perfectly (no lens attached), and inside the molded foam-padded insert I have a Sigma 17-70 f/2.8-4, a Canon 50mm 1.4USM, and (2) Vivitar 383 flashes. They all fit snugly, and I don't have any hesitations setting the bag down at all. I still have room on the opposite side of my camera body for something, just haven't filled it yet! The pockets on the outside are deep, and can hold cell phones, small notebooks, hard drives, etc. There is a slim pocket along the backside (side against your body) that I'm unsure what you can use for; my 15.4 notebook is too long, but I stick it up vertically and throw it in there sometimes... I haven't found any big downfalls, but maybe some hinderances are that this is not a quick-access bag. You have to unlatch it to get out any equipment from the main area. Also, as sold, you cannot have lenses attached to the camera body, and I would also be weary to have any sort of larger lens (i.e. 70-200 f/2.8L or bigger) in the case as-is, because they may be too tall. There are however, some after market inserts that apparently solve this if that's an issue for you. All in all, this is an excellent bag, and I'm finally happy with a bag!
