Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this work (fit) with the EF/RF adapter allowing it's use with EF telephotos?

A: No, it will not work in that fashion.

Q: 2. Can you safely use a 2x teleconverter with extension tubes(all Canon original)? Just curious!

A: Extension tubes will fit the 2x converter but how well they work would be unknown. The tube)s) would need to be mounted to the camera, then the 2x converter, and then the compatible lens. Automatic functions such as AF and auto exposure might be lost too.

Q: 3. CAN IT WORK FULLY WITH RF 70-200 F 2.8 LENS?

A: Unfortunately not. Currently there aren't any Canon Teleconverters that work with the Canon RF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM Lens.

Q: 4. for a RF 100-400 lens, would it be better to use a 1.4 extender or a 2.0 extender?

A: For the Canon RF 100-400mm f/5.6-8 IS USM Lens both the Canon Extender RF 2x and the Canon Extender RF 1.4x are compatible with the lens. It is important to note that you must extend the lens past 200mm in order to mount the 2x converter. While both are compatible with the lens and can be used for all focal lengths, the 2x converter will lose 2 stops of light (leaving you around f/11 when using it with the 100-400mm lens).

Q: 5. Will this two new RF extender maintain auto focus as well as the F11 aperture when use with the new RF100-500mm, RF 600mm and RF 800mm?

A: Yes, it will retain auto focus.

Q: 6. Using the 2x on the 600mm and 800mm, what is the effective F stop?

A: The effective f/stop for both is f/22.

Q: 7. will this extender work with an ef to rf adapter?

A: No, the RF extenders do not work with the EF-RF adapter. The EF-RF adapter doesn't fit over the RF 1.4 or 2.0x teleconverters/extenders. The only way to use a teleconverter with the EF-RF adapters is to use an EF-teleconverter. If you need further clarification or proof, please reach out to our video-chat team and we will be happy to assuage your concerns!

Q: 8. Does the Canon RF Extender 1.4x change minimum focal length of a lens?

A: Teleconverters will change the minimum and maximum focal length of a lens. However, they will not affect the minimum focus distance.

Q: 9. Combined with the ef to rf adapter, can this extender be used for ef mount lenses, or would it be better to buy the ef 2x extender? I don't want to buy any more ef equipment, if possible

A: This teleconverter is made to fit into the select RF lenses. It will not work with the EF-RF adapter or any other lens it wasn't designed for, as that protruding element of the teleconverter will get in the way.

Q: 10. Can I use this extender with the Canon RF 100-400 F5.6-8 IS USM lens?

A: Yes, you can use the Canon Extender RF 1.4x with the Canon RF 100-400mm lens.
