Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Would this be compatiable with F38 base plate?

A: Yes, the Really Right Stuff Monopod Head with Indexing Lever-Release Clamp is compatible with Falcam's F38.

Q: 2. What is the base diameter?

A: The base diameter is 2''.

Q: 3. Is the BH-25 the best choice for use on a platypod ultra? I plan on using it with my Olympus OMD EM1 Mk2 with a 12-40MM lens. Or should I step up to the BH-30 for this use?

A: The Really Right Stuff BH-30 Ball Head with Compact Lever-Release Clamp B&H # REBH30LR would be better to use with the Platypod Ultra since it has nearly double the load capacity of the BH-25.

Q: 4. Has anyone compared the Kirk MPA-2, the ProMediaGear Scepter HM1, and the Really Right Stuff MH-01 LR? All three are high-end versions of the old Manfrotto 3232 tilt head swivel. The question is: are they worth the money and which of the three is the best option?

A: I can't compare the three heads, but I use the Really Right Stuff head (with the Arca Swiss plate). I use this head paired to a Gitzo monopod when shooting wildlife from the deck of of a ship. It worked very well this year shooting in both Baja and the Arctic, and easily supported a heavy telephoto lens. The Really Right Stuff head is a bit over priced (as most of their gear is), but it is well made and should last for years.

Q: 5. Can I use this on a Whimberley WH200 to shoot landscape?

A: Being that the WH200 uses an Arca type clamp, this head can attach to it via the Arca base at the bottom.

Q: 6. What is the difference is between the indexing version and the standard version? I see the standard one has the spirit level which the indexing one doesn't so trying to work out why it's $90 more?

A: The difference between RRS MH-01 and Indexing MH-02 monopod heads is best explained in the RRS video in youtube, type the following in the search bar:really right stuff monopod head with standard lever-release clampI purchased the MH-02 head as I did not wish to carry a separate tool and the orientation change was fast and elegant. The omission of the spirit level in MH-02 was not an issue with me as it would be really difficult to level the camera & lens on a monopod.

Q: 7. Is it normal that the camera shifts a bit when tightening the main knob when zooming at 400+mm?

A: The camera can shift very slightly when tightening any of the knobs on the Acratech GXP-SS Ball Head with Arca-Type Compatible Lever Clamp.

Q: 8. Does this order come with quick release plate?

A: This ball head does not come with a quick release plate.

Q: 9. How easy is it to do fine adjustments for landscapes when shooting at 200-400mm? Is the tension knob useful for this?

A: It's easy to adjust using the tension knob. The tension knob is easy to grip as well.

Q: 10. Will this fit the mefoto walk about monopod?

A: Really Right Stuff Monopod Head with Indexing Lever-Release Clamp BH #REMH02LR will not directly fit the MeFOTO WalkAbout Aluminum Monopod so you will need a 3/8"-16 to 1/4"-20 Reducer Bushing.

I'm very pleased with the RRS Monopod head. I use it with my Sigma 150-600 lens and it makes taking pictures much easier.

I put this on my large Gitzo monopod. I use it on my large 600mm prime lens. It allows me to quickly pivot the axis as needed.

Very lightweight, easy to manage and perfectly sits on my monopod. Love the capacity it can take - increases the lens options that can be used.

Easy to use, lightweight but very sturdy. I've mounted my Canon 5D MK IV with the battery pack and a 600mm lens on my monopod and the RRS head is flawless!

Excellent build quality and functionality. Of all the versions of this RRS head, having the one that has an easy way to twist the head 90 degrees really helps when going from the on-camera L-bracket to ring mounted lens. You could make that simple adjustment using an Allen wrench, but what a nuisance. My only complaint is that the cost difference between the two versions is substantially more than it needs to be. For those nervous about the lever-release clamp, dont be! Youre very unlikely to flip the lever all the way by mistake, which is the only way that your camera/lens would come lose of the head. Flipping the lever half way still keeps your gear on the head, but permits you to make small adjustments. This head replaces a Sirui L-10 that was surprisingly well made for the price. Still, youll see and feel the difference that the RRS head offers. If you have a tight budget, go for the Sirui, but if you want the utility, dependability, and confidence, spring for the extra money and get the RRS.
