Q: 10. I want to purchase the 28-200 for my A7III. I'm a videographer so I'm going to use this lens exclusively for video, on monopod. I'm afraid that the lack of OSS might be a problem. Since A7III has IBIS do I really need a lens with OSS for smooth video?

A: The Sony a7 III Mirrorless Camera has Sony's 5-Axis SteadyShot INSIDE Stabilization built inside the camera. As such, all lenses that are used on the Sony a7 III Mirrorless Digital Camera would benefit from the camera's internal image stabilization. If you will also be using the camera and the Tamron 28-200mm f/2.8-5.6 Di III RXD Lens for Sony E on a monopod, the lens would not need its own image stabilization for your usage needs.

I purchased this lens in hopes of maybe taking it on vacation. However, I didn't think it would be an everyday lens. Boy was I wrong. I've used it on my A74 everyday since I purchased it. It's sharp, quick to focus with excellent color rendition. It is a much better lens than expected and at a great Price!

I've rented this lens several times for vacations and was so pleased with its performance I decided to finally buy one. From the Orlando resort areas to the back country in Glacier National Park this lens delivered excellent image quality at the long end and outstanding sharpness, color and contrast in the normal and wide ranges. For the price it really is a no-brainer, just keep in mind there is no image stabilization so try to use higher shutter speeds on the long end. This is a perfect travel lens and paired with a fast 35mm or 40mm prime should be plenty for most enthusiasts.

My lens arrived on time, with zero issues. Thanks B&H! As far as the lens is concerned, it does everything you expect it would do for a fairly compact travel lens. It is significantly sharper than I thought it would be, and I feel that this lens definitely performs better than it's price would suggest. If you're looking for your first lens, or for a travel lens, I would not hesitate to recommend this lens.

This lens is faster than most variable zoom lenses which usually starts with f3.5 and this lens starts f2.8 and didn't go pass f4 until 65mm. This lens is sharp, fast and accurate focusing and rendering nice color. I think this is a great super zoom for travel, all I need is to bring one or two fast prime lenses, I'm all set. If I have anything more to expect is this lens is a bit bigger and heavier than what I hope for to go with an A7C body. 28mm is good for most use cases, 24mm would have been perfect but that would definitely add weight and size. So I think Tamron made a good decision. Don't let those pixel comparison reviews on YouTube mislead you about this lens being a variable, distortion....... This is a great lens for your money, I highly recommend it.

This lens manages to achieve very respectable image quality for the size, weight, and cost. This lens is an easy recommendation to people who want a versatile lens that they can use without needing a tripod. There are definitely bigger, heavier, more expensive lenses that offer a wider aperture and slightly better image quality, but there are trade-offs in every lens.

I rented this lens and the Tamron 18-300 prior to purchasing this 28-200. This lens is fantastic! I wanted one lens for when I travel and this lens fits the bill. I thought the 18-300 would but it was a little too big and the images from 300mm were not sharp. The images from the 28-200 are sharp across all focal lengths. Check out some of my sample images. Zoom in on the lighthouse top and you will see the woman's should er tattoo. And then check out the details of the eyes on the girl with the hat.

After months of research and pondering what lens I would want to complement my sony FE camera, I came across this lens. I mainly shoot landscape photography, and I'm trying to stay relatively cheap being a college student hobbiest photographer, without compromising too much on the performance end. I have to say I am pretty impressed so far with this lens. I had my doubts, but to have a lens with this much range that is still plenty sharp, at least for my needs, is great. I would say for anyone trying to decide whether they should buy both a mid range 24-70 in addition to a 70-200, or this lens instead, you probably won't regret it when you look at how much money you will save. There is some fringing and chromatic aberration, however the corrective profile in Lightroom takes care of that just fine. It's also so light and compact for what it is, which makes it a perfect travel companion that complements the light world of full frame bodies. I have only really found two downsides with this lens. First, there is no optical stabilization, so in some instances you will definitely need a tripod. Although, with the IBIS in sony cameras, it isn't terrible. Additionally, I have had a few instances where the autofocus struggles a little bit, especially in low light, but this has been fairly rare. So, to wrap up, I would recommend this lens to anyone who was like me, trying to stay on a budget but get a good lens that can still perform well over a vast focal range, this would be a good option, for me the best option that I could find.

I have never been a fan of Tamron lenses and have never kept one that I tried before when I had a DSLR. But this lens for the Sony E mount camera is different. The photos I've taken using it on my A7Riii are stunning with incredible sharpness from front to back. On a recent trip shooting waterfalls I took images focused on the foreground, middle, and background expecting to have to focus stack them in post-processing. But when I got them into Photoshop I was able to use a single image because it was sharp throughout the photo. There is no image stabilization but the Sony camera bodies have some internal stabilization that seems adequate enough for handholding the camera and lens. I've successfully shot a sharp night image handheld at 1/25th of a second. I can truthfully say that I am totally blown away by the quality of the images I've gotten with this lens. So much so that within 10 days of purchasing this Tamron lens, I sold my Sony 70-200mm f/4 lens. The Tamron did not come off my camera the whole time I was on vacation. It was fun to shoot with being able to zoom in and out to experiment with compositions and not having to change lenses. I compete regularly at a local camera club and need sharp images. This Tamron 28-200mm lens gives me that competition-worthy quality image.

Sharp and pretty fast.

The rival for my claim in the subject might be the Tamron 28 75mm FE 2.8 Di III RXD. Faster and sharper. Great choice if I was shooting events for money. But the 28-200 is lighter, longer, and substantially less expensive. Very happy with my purchase.

I have the Tamron 70-180 2.8, added this so can take graduation pictures from wide to telephoto and outdoor sporting events of my grandson. Just shot some birds at feeder and all pictures were perfect for the situation. Worked well using my Sony A7iii and 6500. BH photo is the best, fast shipping and easy checkout. I always tell others to try BH for best price and selection.
