Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this have stepped or continuously variable attenuation?

A: Steeped, Great attenuator

Q: 2. Is it possible for me to use this with a 3.5mm extension cable?

A: I use this with a 3.5mm extension cable all the time to connect a Tascam recorder to my Canon 70D. Works great.

Q: 3. compatible with Canon C100 MKII?

A: The C100 MKII does have a 3.5mm audio input so this attenuator should work on it. Not sure if the C100 has mic-level impedance on that jack or not. It likely does.

Q: 4. Will this cable work with the Blackmagic video assist 5 and 7 ?

A: D-tap batteries put out an nominal 14.4VDC that in reality can be anywhere from 13 to 17VDC. This is not good for the BMD Video Assists since they want a regulated 12VDC. The cable you are asking about is unregulated and would put out the what ever the actual voltage is in the battery. We therefore suggest this regulated cable IndiPRO Tools 12V D-Tap to Blackmagic Mini Converter Power Converter (24 ) B&H # INPT12MAG.

Q: 5. Could this split the stereo from Saramonic uwmic into two separate mono channels, then into my Zoom H6?

A: This Sescom Y cable #SES-IPSUMTS12IN will not work for the desired application because the wiring on the 1/8 TRRS is designed for a smartphone mic input and the 1/4 TS leads would force you to plug into the Zoom's line inputs bypassing the mic preamps. Theoretically, you could achieve separation of the two channels via the one stereo output if, and only if the Saramonic provides a true stereo output with each transmitter assigned to either the tip and the ring respectively. A special cable would have to be made featuring a locking TRS 1/8 male connector on one end, and two XLR male leads on the other.

Q: 6. i want to connect tascam 60d mk ii camera out to my panasonic fz1000 mic input, do i really need this cable? (LN2MIC-ZOOMH4N).just considering not having hiss/noise in my recording.do i really need it?

A: Thanks everyone for the contributions. I would have appreciated the more if everyone gives their answers based on the camera and sound recorder I stated above real world expectation/likely result. Not some guess/on-papers answers. Basically, I want the audio recorded along with the videos without syncing later. Will this cable work with this specified equipment? Someone said it doesnt work for GH4, G7. Am wondering if it will work with FZ1000 and tascam 60d mk ii, if not suggest one.

Q: 7. Does this pass or block phantom power?

A: It passes the phantom power and works quite well.

Q: 8. how many lights can you use with this?

A: You can use up to 64 fixtures with the Visual Productions Cuety Lighting Control App with LPU-1 Interface.

Q: 9. Thoughts on using this cable to connect a GH4 and Zoom H1n?

A: While this would work for connecting the headphone out of the H1n to a mic input on the GH4, you would lose the ability to monitor from the recorder. Here's another attenuator cable that gives you a separate headphone output B&H # KOACH425MON.

Q: 10. Will this cable work as a standard TRRS to TRS adapter cable?

A: Not that we are aware of. This is specifically for the Canon 5D MK II when using Magic Lantern.
