The Tiffen 3 x 4" 1 Cyan Soft-Edge Graduated Filter helps to specifically add a bright cyan coloration to skies and other bright areas of an image while allowing a portion of the image to remain neutrally colored. The filter's coloring is densest at the edge and tapers to clear by the middle, with a soft-edged transition between the density and clear areas. The 1 color density provides less cyan coloration than the 2 density filter.

This filter is made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass and grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch. It measures 3 x 4" / 76.2 x 101.6mm.

Note: A vertical orientation filter's line of transition runs parallel to the short side of the filter.

A: The Lee filter Foundation Kit is a filter holder, which allows the rectangular or square filters to slide in and out easily. In order to attach the filter holder to a lens you must ALSO purchase an adaptor ring. The most common is the LEE Filters Adapter Ring - 77mm. The reason that this is the most common is that most professional lenses have 77mm filter threads. After you screw on the adaptor ring onto the lens, the filter holder clips onto the ring.Photographers purchase an adaptor ring that matches the size of their lens with the largest front filter threads. If you also have lenses with smaller front filter threads, you purchase a step-up ring for each of those lenses. For example, if you have a lens with front filter threads of 52mm, you purchase an inexpensive 52-77mm step-up ring and leave in on your camera so that it's ready for the Lee Filter system. Probably a good idea to purchase a 77mm lens cap, since the 52mm lens cap no longer fits. Step-up filters are very inexpensive, as are generic lens caps.
