I had considered getting a telescope but wanted something that could use terrestrially and for digiscoping. A telescope might work but it would be too cumbersome and not as useful. I git the Vortex Razor HD so I could watch wildlife and be able to use it at night to look at the moon and planets. The sun's been setting too late at night lately for the latter but that'll change as the year wears on.

The optics are superb! The image is crystal clear even at long - in excess of 1/3 mile - and makes reading even small print possible. I was able to read a license plate in excess of a quarter mile. Not just the number but the state name as well. The only issue I had at that distance was atmospheric interference and that isn't the problem with the scope.

The neoprene cover that came with the scope is pretty useless to me. It wouldn't do much except protect the scope from possible dings and scratches. It has no handle so it doesn't provide much other functionality. I might think about a soft carrying case instead.

The controls all work smoothly and don't drift unexpectedly. The biggest issue I had was having the eyepiece out and turning it in with my eye still on it. I'm missing several eyebrow hairs from doing that.

I'm getting used to finding the subject at the 27x zoom then zooming in. The 60x zoom is significant! I'm still playing with the Celestron Star Finder scope I bought. It doesn't really fit this spotting scope but I fix it to to that. I now have a red dot scope to find a subject.

I'm looking forward to getting this scope out more and, using the t-mount and micro four thirds adapter for my camera, to shoot wildlife.

This has changed my viewing habits!

I’m an avid birdwatcher and have been using an entry-level spotting scope for years, so I was definitely due for an upgrade. I shopped around and tried many different scopes before settling on the Razor. In my opinion, it is clearly the best value for the money among all spotting scopes I looked through. Is it on par with a Swarovski or a Leica? No, but it’s fairly close and roughly 1/3 of the price so I’m not complaining. There is no noticeable chromatic aberration (even at 60x), I enjoy edge-to-edge sharpness in the field of view and the build quality is excellent. It even came with a free tripod (head is lame but can be swapped out) and the amazing Vortex VIP warranty. This is my 3rd piece of Vortex optics and I’m going to keep using their gear. This scope is a winner in my book.

Scope works well in low light settings. Captured great pics digascoping with phone adapter at Yellowstone. Zooms and focuses smoothly. I like that it fits in a standard backpack with 15” collapsible tripod. Highly recommend at price point. Tripod that came with it as a bonus works well but is not travel size.

Clarity is the best I have ever seen in any scope I have used. The image clarity is crystal clear for the 200 yds or less that I use it for. The long range capability has been great for the few times I have just taken it out to the field or the beach to view things. Also very nice for looking at the moon, planets, and constellations. And as always - it is Vortex, so the warranty is the best! Highly recommend purchasing this if you need a spotting scope you will be extremely happy with.

I'm a big fan of Vortex products. This spotting scope is my first from them. It's a killer! Great quality. There is a minor defect in my lens but I know when I contact Vortex that they'll help me out.
