Outfitted with a configuration favored by birders, hunters, and outdoor enthusiasts who work at long ranges, the Opticron 10x42 Adventurer II WP PC Binoculars feature high power for bringing far-off subjects in close, and an objective lens diameter that provides extended performance in low light without excessive bulk. Outfitted with phase-corrected BAK4 roof prisms and fully multicoated optics, they deliver high-contrast views that are bright and clear with accurate color representation. Their 15mm eye relief helps boost the comfort-level during extended observation sessions and reduces eye fatigue.

The body is made from aluminum and polycarbonate for strength and durability. The neutral weight distribution ensures the center of gravity sits naturally in your hand to help prevent arm fatigue. Protective rubber armor and raised palm pads provide a slip-resistant grip and the large, textured focus wheel makes them easy to use — especially in cold and wet weather or when wearing gloves. The optical tubes are nitrogen-filled and O-ring sealed to make them waterproof and to prevent internal fogging when you are moving through extreme temperature and environmental conditions. Tethered objective lens caps ensure they are nearby when needed and a one-piece ocular rainguard allows for fast deployment in the field.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is there any such thing as lens caps for these bad boys or would the best bet be lens hoods?

A: Yes, the Canon 10x42 L IS WP Image Stabilized Binoculars can take standard 52mm lens caps.

Q: 2. I have the canon 10 x 42 stabilizer binoculars. What kind of battery fits into the slot that stabilizes the binoculars.

A: two AA batteries

Q: 3. Where is it made?

A: The Country of Origin is China.

Q: 4. I lost my manual. Where can i download one?

A: You probably can get one from B&H - if not Google Canon and you should be able to get one there.

Q: 5. Does it works without battery , i.e as usual binocular?

A: Regarding the Canon 10x42 L IS WP Image Stabilized Binoculars, the visual optics will work without batteries. The IS requires batteries.

Q: 6. what is the difference between the Nikon 10 x 42 Monarch M7 and the HG beside the price?

A: The New Monarch HG Binoculars, feature, Extra-low dispersion glass. (reduces chromatic and spherical aberrations for increased contrast and improved color rendition and sharpness), giving you much better low light performance than the Nikon 10 x 42 Monarch M7.

Q: 7. are they good for a pilot in the cockpit?

A: I don't fly but have used these for nature viewing (birds, whale watching) and for hiking. The adapter for use with a tripod is great. They have excellent clarity and being waterproof is a plus. The price is right for this type of binocular.

Q: 8. Is there anything like this that can also record video & has a range finder? Thanks for any leads

A: Currently, there are no similar products to the Canon 10x42 L IS WP Image Stabilized Binoculars (BH # CA10X42L) that offer recording and a rangefinder.

Q: 9. There are many reviews that complain of decomposing rubber housings. Did Canon fix this issue?

A: I haven't heard of an issue like this in a very long time. I believe the Model has been updated since that issue has occurred. They offer a great Limited 3-Year Warranty that does cover against this kind of Defect.

Q: 10. Is the front objective of the 10x42L IS threaded for an aluminum lens hood or filter? If so what diameter is it? The binoculars are obviously 42mm diameter, but the recommended accessories lists a 52mm lens hood. If the threads are 42mm does anybody make a lens hood that size? Sensei does not list a 42mm hood.

A: The accessory would indeed need to be 52 mm. the cross diameter is just over 2". And yes it is threaded....hope this helps.

Pinpoint sharp stars and can easily see the Andromeda Galaxy and lunar detail. Stabilization is amazing. 10x42 vs 15 x10 is personal preference. They are fairly heavy so be prepared. Recommend lithium batteries....last longer and no leaking.

As the author of 9 astronomy books, and the guy who taught Yellowstone Park's summer astronomy program in the 1980s and 1990s, I know optics. I own five pairs of binoculars, including two other Canon models. I've also evaluated hundreds that have been shown to me to try. These, my friends, are the best. The image looks better than real life. The wide field, stunning contrast, and rock steady stabilization are a joy to use. Compared to my Canon 10x30 IS (which I also love) these have a distinctly superior image, and noticeably brighter in low light conditions. The only negative: They're a bit heavy. I regret I succumbed to a slightly better price and bought them online elsewhere. Normally I simply trust B&H, and now that they've further dropped their price on these, it's a no-brainer because B&H always takes impeccable care of its customers. On a recent Atacama desert tour, other tour members oohed and aahed as they took turns using these on flamingoes.

These binos are super clear with Canons L glass. The IS function is very helpful and you don't have to continuously press the button to keep it on(a plus). With that said, 2 nitpicks. 1. No eyecups 2. They are a bit heavy especially when compared to the 12x36 IS. I have both sets. For long hikes or handholding, get the 12x36. If you want the absolute clearest picture, get the 10x42’s.

Before I bought these, I had a pair of Nikon Prostaff 3S binoculars. They were OK, but these Canons completely blow them away. They are brighter, sharper and stabilized. The case is high quality and has a dedicated spot for extra batteries. The strap is padded and very comfortable to wear for long periods of time. They are made using Canon's L glass, so that's why they are so expensive. My only complaint is the eye adjustment is a little difficult to get right. Other than that (and the price), they are perfect.

Very bright for 10 X 42 with good eye relief. I first used them for astronomy to locate and observe the Andromeda Galaxy and several open clusters and globular clusters in Sagittarius and Scorpius. The IS is very effective and a welcome addition to my collection on optics. Of course they are also excellent for terrestrial day time use.
