I've been buying 4TB and 6TB Red pros for years. We only have had one failure and the WD replace process is slow, about two weeks. This 8TB seems to be very quiet.

For our video archive storage, WD Red Pros are my go-to. In the last six years, I've had the most consistent performance and lowest fail rate compared to any other disk brand. I much prefer these to Seagate Barracuda disks.

Purchased 4 x 18tb this time, one failed the moment that power was applied. This is the first time that I've had a WD Red Pro drive fail in any density or configuration.

Received a quick easy replacement from BH that certified clean just like the other three drives.
It is concerning that so many seem to be failing, but I have various WD Red Pro drives (6tb - 20tb) in 12 x 4 drive RAID5 configurations that run 24 x 7. Keep an extra drive on hand for each array. So far, over 10 years with just the one failure.
Reading reviews of other brands, it seems that they all have problems.
I'll keep using WD Red Pros for the foreseeable future. They have performed extremely well in my applications.

A Seagate 20TB gave me a red light in my NAS so replaced it with this one. So far so good. Fings crossed it lasts a long time

Was running out of room in my Synology NAS and my 8TB RED PRO drives are 6 years old. So upgraded and renew with these 18TB RED PRO drives. Drive swap went well and now up and running with plenty of space. I like these drives... They run cool and even the 8TB drives removed i will reuse for backup duty. They didnt see heavy use over 6 years.

I take photos... thousands of photos... and store on external HDDs. I then edit photos on my Mac mini with a HDD connected by USB-C. I've tried many HDDs in Oyen Digital Novus enclosures and all with mixed results... until the WD Red Pro. It's lightning fast, responsive, silent, and the answer to my needs. I highly recommend the WD 6TB Red Pro.

Price actually worked out cheaper than buying externals. Seems to have a smoother startup sound than those as well.

We have 44 of these within x3 head units, all running like a charm. Synology won't authorize the drives, but otherwise they work perfectly.

Of course the two drives were perfect out of the box--which was optimally packed and cushioned for safety. I'm using a pair of them in a Raid 1 configuration (mirrored) in a NAS. Now please, check back in five years for the rest of the story, which hopefully will be, After five years still going strong.
