The Decklink SDI 4K Capture & Playback Card from Blackmagic Design features a single multi-rate SDI input and multi-rate SDI output. These multi-rate connections accept single-link SD, HD, 3G, and 6G-SDI signals, providing support for resolutions from SD to Ultra HD 4K (3840 x 2160) and DCI 4K (4096 x 2160). Additionally, the Decklink SDI 4K includes RS-422 deck control, internal keying, and a reference input.

Decklink SDI 4K offers flexible format and system support, letting you work with compressed video formats such as ProRes and DNxHD as well as 10-bit uncompressed video. When working with uncompressed video, all images are pixel-for-pixel identical to the source, without any generational loss. This lets you get sharper keying with green screens, cleaner compositions, superior color correction, and more. Support for common file formats provides ready-to-edit files for use in popular editing, effects, and design software applications. Decklink SDI 4K is compatible with macOS, Windows, and Linux based workstations with downloadable software.

Q: 1. Can I use this card for capturing the max quality 4K video from a C300mk2?

A: Sorry, this response may be a little late. I haven't actually done what you're asking about. In Avid/Premiere Pro I have options to capture 4096x2160 or UHD. Hope that helps.

Q: 2. Is it possible to apply a LUT to the footage, via this device, for a live stream? Or is there separate software/hardware required? I'm using a Blackmagic Production 4K camera.

A: We suggest this AJA LUT-box B&H # AJLUTBOX. This will take the signal from the Blackmagic Camera, and apply the LUT. From there you can stream it.

Q: 3. can i get 4 analog audio channels into this card via a breakout cable ?

A: You could get an SDI to Audio mini Converter

Q: 4. Can i use this card to have a reference monitor in davinci resolve?

A: Yes, this will work as an output for Davinci Resolve.

Q: 5. Can I use this card for capturing the max quality 4K video from a C300mk2?

A: The camera appears to have a 3G output not 4K.

Q: 6. What you can say about Linux support? Does Linux kernel support it or 3rd party drivers are needed?

A: BMD has Linux drivers for this card.

Q: 7. Does anybody else with this card notice that the fan is loud? I put it in a previously silent Mac Pro, and it's kinda loud now. I'm wondering if that's fairly normal or if my card is possibly defective?

A: More than likely the card is not defective. Processing 4K footage can be quite intensive and the fan on this unit does take up a lot of real-estate on the board. Hearing the fan does not sound out of the ordinary. Q: 8. Anyone used this with vmix, and have you used it in both directions at the same time?

A: Yes, that should be possible with this product.

Q: 9. Ran into an issue on my ursa mini. Used both card slots, once first card filled up, it went to the 2nd card. First card cannot be read by a computer, but plays on my ursa mini. Can I use the sdi out on my ursa mini, connected to this graphics card and record the footage to my PC?

A: Yes, it will take an SDI/HDSDI signal to allow you to capture that video. Are you able to connect your camera via USB? Just wondering if that might be easier. Sounds like the problem might be that you have files that are spanning across 2 cards. If you can mount the camera with it's 2 slots...maybe that would work??

Q: 10. Does this DeckLink Card support AC3 audio?

A: By itself the card only has uncompressed audio. The controlling software would need to encode or decode AC3. Media Express from Blackmagic does not.

We use the PCI Express to input our live stream encoding feed from the program out of our ATEM switcher. The SDI card is simple and to the point. Easy setup. Perfect integration into our Blackmagic system. Exactly what we needed. 5

I use this card to monitor work on Avid MC, Adobe After Effects, and Davinci Resolve on both Mac and PC. I am monitoring with the FSI LM2461W. Working and monitoring through the Decklink SDI card produces results that are totally consistent with how my work looks in a DI prjection theatre and broadcast QA.This card is inexpensive, accurate and works without a hitch. It is MUCH better that other, more expensive solutions out there. I would take this over any outboard USB or Thunderbold solution as it runs flawlessly. You get a lot of bang for the buck with this card.My only criticism would be that I wish BMD would offer a simple 4:4:4 2K solution in a similar stripped down format. 5

We use this card to stream 1080p 60fps to Youtube, Using wirecast for youtube. Works amazingly well. Wirecast has some Clocking Issues and every 30-60 minutes the Audio levels freakout a bit. The issues is 100% on wirecast. FLME works perfectly and also Media Express and Premiere. 5
