Cleanly transform your signals from unbalanced to balanced with the DB425 Four-Channel DI from Rolls, a passive DI box that can easily convert any line- or instrument-level signal to balanced without the need for external power. The DB425 employs a specially designed nickel-laminated transformer to transform signals with studio-quality signal integrity.

The DB425 features eight 1/4" inputs arranged in four pairs, allowing you to freely transform stereo or mono signals, and each input pair includes a dedicated button for switching between line level and Hi-Z instrument level. Four balanced XLR male outputs let you send your balanced signals to mixers, interfaces, PA systems, and other balanced systems with ease. Finally, a ground-lift switch helps to eliminate grounding issues that generate noise and hum, a useful feature for any audio environment, from live stages to pro studios. The DB425 sports a rugged design for dependable use over many years, and is built in the USA to meticulous standards.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I'm looking for blend a piezo pickup and condenser mic both mounted on double bass. Does this will works?

A: It might. Give it a try. It is a returnable item.

Q: 2. Will this take the left and right trs input and convert it to rca left and right output?

A: Yes

Q: 3. Can I add a non Condenser mic and just use one of the port as a pass through no phantom power required?

A: No you can't. This is an active device it is always passing current whether you use phantom or not. If you plug a dynamic into it the capsule will burn out in time.

Q: 4. Can I run the output into an unbalanced recorder?

A: No problem - just adapt the XLR output from the ROLLS to the required input on your recorder.

Q: 5. How long do the batteries last?

A: Our customers report 2 to 4 hours continuously depending upon the microphones used.

Q: 6. Can this be used to control volumens and outputs to different zones like attenuators such as the AT 100D? And if so, in what other ways would make it better?

A: Thank you for your question. This unit has four stereo rca inputs with separate zone selector switches for each of the 4 zones. you can control the input and output volume from each channel and zone.

Q: 7. Vendor/installer inserted a device (magna?) to route all components into a graphic equalizer, then out to speakers. That worked, but it introduced a faint flutter into the output. Even when all components, including the tuner/amp are powered down, if the 'magna' has power to it the flutter remains. The Rolls is said to eliminate flutter, not hum. Is that true? Is there a better device to use with the equalizer, designed for flutter as wells as hum? or just flutter?

A: The Rolls HE18 will only remove buzz and hum.

Q: 8. 2 Qs: 1) Does this add any coloration to the signal; 2) will this work passively while it is powered down? One of the mics I'd be running through it is a Warm WA 47, which doesn't need the phantom power. I want to be sure that I can either go through the powered-up Rolls without it affecting the signal, or turn the Rolls off and just pass through it in passive mode. Sorry for the complicated and poorly phrased question!

A: The Rolls MX310 MorMics 3-Channel Mic Mixer/Combiner requires a power supply to function and is not passive. It does not specify any features that would color the signal specifically, however most electronic circuitry will typically influence the audio signal in some manner, typically minimally.

Q: 9. Will it work for 120hz signals? I have a buzz from my turntable and I have tried almost everything and I'm still getting a buzz

A: This style of buzz eliminator is designed for 50 to 60hz.

Q: 10. If I input a 3.5mm mic will that get phantom power, and if so, how much, or is it just through the XLR connections?

A: Phantom power is provided through an XLR connection only. Mics that require power with a 3.5mm jack usually require plug in power which is approximately 2 - 5 volts. The MX310 is not able to provide this power.

Rolls makes good stuff, so I always try to buy it. This one is no different. I needed a headphone amp to split a line for some musicians so they could hear a click track in rehearsal. I picked this up and it worked really well. They could each adjust their own volume. I've had problems with other headphone amps not having stereo outputs, which is a big problem. This one is stereo, and works really well, sounds good, and has a nice clean look to it.

Remarkable nowadays is the solid metal construction of a pro-level audio device for under $50. Things just keep getting better when one begins plugging in cables and finds the versatility of high-quality jacks for both 1/4-inch phone plugs and mini plugs. Equally impressive is the smooth operation of the gain controls, with the mid-point detent as a handy reference point, so it's not necessary to look at the unit when adjusting gain. Most important, the output is superb--nothing added, nothing taken away, just 20db of gain without any distortion.

I bought this amplifier to to provide additional gain for a pair of Sennheiser HD 424 vintage headphones. These phones are high impedence (1750 ohms) and cannot be driven well by my computer sound card or my Android phone. This box did the trick. I use the other outputs for connecting additional phones. Very convenient for comparisons etc. Also, having an external physical volume control is useful. Uses 12 volt power - so its easy to power from the included power supply as well as batteries, car etc. Watch out, the polarity of the barrel connector is reversed from many other devices. The box is polarity protected, but don't take chances. The circuit design uses opamps and is quite straight forward. The sliders have a stop in the middle. Unity gain perhaps. Not necessary and makes adjusting volume annoying. I end up adjusting the input level so that the slider is above the mid-point. This is a very small negative. The box has a high(100K) input impedence. This is useful for connecting to line outputs. Can be used to provide headphone connections to devices with fixed level line outputs. In summary, a simple and effective device.

It works exactly as I wanted it to. It boosts the volume of my standard headphones from my laptop as much or more than I can use.

I use this for onsite live webcasting of sporting events. Always a lot of noise, so we need head phones to hear each other speak. Some great features: mini and 1/4 jacks for Headphones, RCA and 1/4 output connectors. Versitile and quality is great.

Not such good news. Channel 3 is corrupted. I am sure exchange will be no problem as staff are always so accomodating. 5 stars for service everytime ;)

Has both RCA and 1/4 in input jacks on back, with 1/4 or mini headphone jacks on front. Unit is metal, sliders are smooth and noise free. I cant blast the speakers in my apartment, so this unit allow us all to have headphones and we can each adjust our own volume. Last night, two of us watch a movie on the iPad with great headphone sound. Happy I bought the little thing, its worth the price.

I use the Rolls for up to four guests appearing live on a radio program. It works great and is well engineered. My only reservation is the A/C power supply cord is too short, requiring I purchase a separate A/C extension cord. Otherwise, highly recommended.

I use this amp to power my telephone music from my 200 disk player. It allows me to hook up the system and monitor the out put.

I use this amp with the headphone output of an audio console. It did not have enough gain to get sufficient volume to hear over the live environment. With this amp, I can easily get enough volume to hear my record mix, as well any solo from the board I need. It can drive my headphones to their distortion level, so I know I can get the max volume, when I need it, from my monitoring headphones. I plugged it in, set the level, and effectively forgot about it, which is exactly what I wanted.
