This R200SS 200mm f/4 Reflector Telescope with SX2WL Mount from Vixen Optics has a chromatic, aberration-free, Newtonian reflector that can resolve and split distant binary stars and separate individual stars in clusters. Its large aperture and moderate focal length results in a fast f/4 focal ratio ideal for observing and imaging the moon, planets, and deep-sky objects including galaxies, clusters, and nebulae. The R200SS is offered here without a tripod or mount head for those who already have a reliable rig and are looking to upgrade or add to their observation capabilities.

Successor of the SX equatorial mount offering extremely comfortable automatic slewing via smartphone or tablet PC running the Vixen StarBook app. Accurate tracking by micro-step motion control technology and pulse motor offers very stable and smooth rotation. Can be used without counterweight if the load is small thanks to its unique DEC body design. A retractable counterweight bar design permits convenience for transport and set-up.

The tripod's large, hex-shaped, two-piece legs adjust from 31.8" to 51.1" in length and 28.7" to 45.5" in height.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I have a Canon T6s with a 500mm telephoto lens and 2X Lens on that. Will the Vixen Optics 3562 Piggyback Fine Adjustment Unit DX support this? What is the actual weight limit?

A: I do not recommend using this for your set up. It won't be sturdy enough from what it's showing. The head is only 12oz, so I really don't think this will work. My apologies.

Q: 2. What is the size of the central obstruction(secondary+holder)?

A: It is 3 inches.

Q: 3. How much focus adjustment is there? I would like to mount a Z Cam with T-mount to shoot video.

A: In reviewing Vixen website I came up with no additional information

Q: 4. How many degrees does this attachment move, both vertically and horizontally?

A: I would have to say about 15 maybe 30 degrees each way total travel. I bought mine for the last super moon. Had a 1600mm lens attached to this and was easily able to track the movement of the moon. At 1600 mm I had to constantly shift both axis and it did a great job. It is not super fast, meaning the threads on the adjustments are pretty fine, so if you are trying to track birds of something moving you will have to crank pretty quickly to keep up. But if that bird lands on a branch and you zoom an and want to adjust to frame the shot properly you can easily do it with some practice.

Q: 5. It's says that the focal length is 200mm but it's 1000mm correct?!

A: That is a web error the focal length is 1,000 mm

Q: 6. If I will use the Vixen SD 103S telescope for viewing, do I need to purchase a field flattener or extension tube?

A: No, it is not a necessity

Q: 7. Would the Celestron focal reducer work well with this scope, or does Vixen make one of their own that would?

A: Yes you can use the Celestron f/6.3 Reducer/Corrector for this Optical Tube. Website link: http://bhpho.to/1JT4a4N Also there is the Vixen Optics 0.62x Focal Reducer for the VMC200L & VMC260L Telescopes, which will be compatible too. Website link: http://bhpho.to/1JWik5n

Q: 8. Does it need a second counterweight to do astrophotography with a dslr maybe an autotracker?

A: It depends on the weight of your camera body. If your camera body is over 2 lbs. I would suggest additional counter balance weights.

Q: 9. what kind of mount and tripod will work with this? I also need sun filters for the eclipse. Could you pro info on this?

A: The Vixen Optics SD103S 103mm f/8 ED APO Refractor can be used on a mount such as the Explore Scientific iEXOS-100-2 PMC-Eight Equatorial Go-To Tracker System https://bhpho.to/3dkl14G. And this Mr. Star Guy filter will fit the telescope: https://bhpho.to/3I4SXRX

Q: 10. Will the Celestron Collimation Eyepiece (1.25) allow the realignment of this telescope's mirror?

A: Yes, the collimation eyepiece will assist in collimating the Cometron's primary mirror.
