The SD-SDI to Composite Converter with Audio De-Embedding and Frame Sync is an expansion board the requires the 1RU version of the XIO-series rackmount frame. The card takes a single NTSC or PAL SD-SDI input and converts to two composite analog outputs. So the signal can pass to downstream devices without requiring a separate distribution amplifier, the SDI input is also looped back out. Along with video, this converter will also de-embed two stereo pairs (4-channels) of analog audio from the SDI stream.

A: Jodan, I had the same problem you experiancing. I did not keep my I returned it. It was not useful to me.I wish you luck.

Q: 2. has anyone powered this unit with USB power instead of plugging it into the wall? Does it need to be plugged into the wall?

A: Hi Mark. The unit requires a 5 volt DC source at 2 amps. Any power supply of 5 volts DC with at least a 2 amp rating will power the unit. So, if you have a USB power supply of 5 volts that can supply the amp rating it should work. Please be aware of the polarity of the power supply you are using. And no, I have not tried powering the unit from a USB port or power supply, but it is a good question.

Q: 3. Does this unit support 1080P 59.94 and 60?

A: This lists 3G-SDI which indicates it should work well with 1080p at 59.94/60fps.

Q: 4. Would this work with a projector I'm using it for Apple TV and cable box

A: If the projector has a composite video input, then I believe that it would.I used this device to connect an Apple TV to an older TV that does not have an HDMI input.

Q: 5. What are the delay times?

A: 9 fields (4.5 frames) Audio or video can be delayed. I'm not an expert video tech - but I guess the actual time in ms would depend on the frame rate of the video signal.

Q: 6. Filming with an ARRI sr2 - will this convert a film video tap to digital?

A: I would be a millionaire if I had a dollar for every foot of film I ran through Arriflex SR cameras. So while I have not tested this set up, the specs sound right. The Arri's video tap, possibly a Transvideo product, outputs a Composite signal through a BNC connection. Connect the tap to the converter and it should work just fine in making a digital signal.

Q: 7. I'm disappointed with the scrunched aspect ratio when I plug my Apple TV 3 into my 36 Sony Standard definition CRT, through my eBay-cheap HDMI to RCA Analog Converter. My Sony has the Apple TV image scrunched vertically, with faces and people displaying narrow. I cant live with that? I have have gone to Settings/Audio & Video/TV Resolution and none of the settings will get rid of the scrunched screen, not even 640 x 480 - 60hz. Would this KanexPro adapter display the image from my Apple TV 3 on my old Analog 4:3 Sony CRT TV undistorted in 4x3 format?

A: Apple TVs output an HD, 16x9 signal through their HDMI output. This KanexPro will not work for you, nor am I aware of any product that will turn that to a 4x3 format without it looking squished.

Q: 8. Anyone use this on the newer samsungs with the stupid junction box? Every other converter I've tried wont work with it so I'd rather know before wasting time and money.
