Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is the software that comes with this UPS fully compatible with OS X (Yosemite at least)?

A: There is no need to install software for the UPS when connecting to a Mac. You will be able to use the Macs Energy System Preference pane to control your systems responses when on battery power.

Q: 2. Can you turn off the beep when power is lost?

A: The audio indicator cannot be disabled.

Q: 3. Does this have the usual piercing alarm when it switches to battery power? If so can you disarm the alarm? I don't just mean hit a silence button once it alarms but, can you set it so the alarm never goes off? I want to use it in a live production environment and wish to avoid the distraction of screaming alarms.

A: This unit BH #APBR1000MS has the option to mute audible alerts.

Q: 4. Can i start this unit without power it? (just with the rechanged battery)

A: The unit must be powered on in order to charge the battery.

Q: 5. Will this UPS work on its side? Or does it have to be in the upright position?

A: i would recommend to keep this unit up right so it doesn't over heat.

Q: 6. Does APC Back-UPS PRO BN1350M2 regulates output voltage? Could you please provide details?

A: The APC Back-UPS PRO BN1350M2 Battery Backup & Surge Protector BH #APBN1350M2 has a surge protector and outputs 120VAC.

Q: 7. Is there software to monitor battery status from the PC?

A: Included along with the APC Back-UPS Pro is the downloadable PowerChute software program to monitor energy usage and prevent data corruption by automatically saving files and shutting down a computer system. The PowerChute software can also be used to monitor the status of the battery backup.

Q: 8. What's the difference between APC's BN1350M2, BN1350VA and BR1350M2, please?

A: Thank you for your interest in our products. The BN1350M2 is the same model as the BN1350VA. The BN1350VA is just the family name for the BN1350M2. The BR1350MS is different from the BN1350M2 because the BR1350MS produces a pure sine wave both on and off battery. The BN1350M2 would have a pure sine wave while the UPS is online but when the UPS goes to battery it would be a step approximated sine wave. The BN1350M2 should work with most equipment but some equipment requires the pure sine wave both on and off battery like the BR1350MS produces.

Q: 9. I just bought this and realized it came with a 30amp AC Plug. Can I safely adapt this to 15amp plug to use in a regular outlet? Will it just result in a slower battery charge?

A: Thank you for your interest in our products. If you do change the input power cord to 15 amp it will derate the UPS to a 1500VA UPS. It wouldn't slow charge but you would not be able to connect the same amount equipment to the UPS. We do recommend a licensed electrician change out the cord as well. For more information on this please check out the following knowledge base. https://www.apc.com/us/en/faqs/FA156517/

Q: 10. Does this unit provide "pure sine wave" or is it "simulated sine wave"?

A: The APC Back-UPS Pro BR 1000VA Battery Backup & Surge Protector BH #APBR1000MS is pure sine wave.
