Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this beanbag flatten down at all for travel when empty of bean/hull filling?

A: Yes, the LensCoat LensSack Pro Jr Beanbag Support does flatten down when empty.

Q: 2. Please recommend me low light lense?

A: If you are looking for a telephoto zoom lens for low-light photography needs, then the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm f/2.8G ED VR II Lens, B&H # NI7020028, would work for your needs. The Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8 Di LD (IF) Macro AF Lens for Nikon AF, B&H # TA7020028MN, is the most economical option that has a constant f/2.8 aperture for low light telephoto zoom needs. If you are simply looking for an inexpensive low-light lens, and it does not have to be a telephoto lens or a zoom lens, then the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G Lens, B&H # NI5018GAF, would work for your needs.

Q: 3. Is it possible to add a teleconverter 1.4x or 2x , and still get crisp tripod mounted images?

A: yes. There is very little, if any, fall off in sharpness.

Q: 4. I'm ready to purchase, but would like to know what's the warranty on the lens, and who covers it? Thanks

A: The USA lens would come with Nikon USAs warranty, which would be a 5-year warranty (first year international, remaining four years USA only). The Imported lens would come with a one-year warranty from B&H.

Q: 5. Does it come with Nikon USA 5 year warranty? Does it include drop/spill?Compatible with D80?

A: Yes, this lens comes with the one year limited Nikon warranty as well as the four year Nikon USA warranty extension, and will be compatible with the Nikon D80. The warranty does not offer protection against drops and spills, however, you have the option to purchase additional drops and spills coverage through a third party company called Square Trade. More information regarding the coverage, terms and conditions of the Square Trade protection plans can be found at the following link: http://bhpho.to/1fMHaTB

Q: 6. Just wanted to make sure it is also compatible with a Nikon D60. yes?

A: Yes, the Nikon 18-55 AF-S lens is fully compatible with a Nikon D60.

Q: 7. 1- could you let me know the size of the filter I can put in front of the 95mm objective?

A: Hello Jeremiah - My apologies for the delay in responding - I did not get the notification. The 95mm Modular Objective can accept a 97mm filter size, which is a VERY uncommon size. Here is the bottom line, even if you were able to source out a 97mm filter, or use a 105mm filter and a step-down ring: there are no filters currently on the market that will not adversely affect the optical performance of the spotting scope. Thinking this through: a $400 filter used on a Canon 800mm f/5/6 lens is only having to work with a 16x lens magnification. It is a perfectly good optical system. That same filter quality attached to the 95mm scope now has to deliver top optical quality at 70x!!! If you want to use the filter as protection for the scope front element, you will be adversely affecting image quality by doing so. My tip - slide out the retractable sunshade when you are using the spotting scope in the field, and it will be less likely for you to scratch or damage the scope lens.

Q: 8. If i were to use this lens on a DX format camera, would there be a difference in quality than by using a lens that is already in Dx format?

A: FX and DX format lenses will function identically on a DX camera body. In terms of quality, that really depends on a lens by lens comparison. That being said, the AF-S 70-300mm lens does have better optical quality than the two DX telephoto zoom lenses Nikon makes.

Q: 9. Is this compatible with D5100?

A: The Nikon AF-S 18-55mm lens is fully compatible with the Nikon D5100.

Q: 10. I'd like to use buckwheat hulls to fill this. How much do I need to purchase?

A: When using the LensCoat LensSack Pro Jr Beanbag Support it is good to use a little less than 6 lbs of "buckwheat hulls"
