Q: 1. I have Nikon 600mm with D850 and I have Gitzo 3532s this gimbal work well with this combo ?

A: Yes it works very well

Q: 2. Have Tamron 150-600mm what quick release plate would I need? (using on Canon 7D)

A: I believe the quick release with be attached to the lens and not the camera. Call Wimberley and ask them for the correct plate model to work with your lens.

Q: 3. Will a NikonD500 with a battery pack work with this gimbal?

A: I do not use Nikons. However, this gimbal head is for mounting lenses not the camera body. Very difficult to use if mounting a camera body. Hope this helps.

Q: 4. Would I be able to use the WH 200 with my Gitzo GT2531 tripod? I have a Nikon D800 and 70-200 f 2.8 and 80-400 lenses.

A: I think so- I have a Gitzo carbon 6X with a WH200 attached. I have a Nikon 810. You may need to purchase an (arca?) quick attachment plate. I suggest you call them tomorrow before you order and confirm with customer service--they have been great when I have questions

Q: 5. Is the wh 200 compatible with gitzo 2545 or 2542?

A: Yes it is fully compatible

Q: 6. What does it mean when it says that the gimbal has a quick release base?

A: If you are talking about where the camera attaches to the Wimberley WH-200 Gimbal Tripod Head II with Quick Release Base, it works just like your quick release on your tripod.

Q: 7. Does the Wimberley head work smoothly in cold temperatures?

A: I've used my WH-200 at -15C (about 5F)with no issues. It moves smoothly with no stiction or resistance.

Q: 8. Hi, I am looking at purchasing the Wimberley WH-200 Gimbal for use with a Really Right Stuff tripod - and I am wondering if there is a tripod bag that would work to transport the tripod with the head attatched?

A: Yes , depending on the folding length of the Really Right Stuff tripod, a good bag to transport a tripod that folds down to 24 inches with the Gumbel head attached would the Really Right Stuff Extra Large Tripod Bag: https://bhpho.to/2ktTRPj . If the tripod folds down to 20 inches then the RRS large tripod bag will work: https://bhpho.to/2x9eKDG

Q: 9. Is this compatible with Gitzo tripods

A: Yes, this gimbal head will work with any tripod with a 3/8" threaded stud, including the Gitzo tripods.

Q: 10. can a wimberley be used with a monopod?

A: Yes it can. The monopod is lighter and easier to walk around with but still gives more stability than just hand holding a long lens.

I bought one of these a few weeks ago to photograph bald eagles in Maryland with my 600mm f/4. It performs effortlessly with this heavy lens and enabled me to get shots I could net get with my previous head. It's pricey but worth the money.

While I cannot compare this with the competitions’ offerings, the reviews here and the endorsement by Nat’l Geo photographer Joel Sartore persuaded me. That said, my expectations were exceeded.

The quality is impeccable in all respects! I also had a question about installation on my tripod and Wimberley’s customer support was great.

Highly recommended. You get what you pay for.

I shouldn’t be surprised that this gimbal is incredible because it’s not cheap. But you don’t always get what you pay for - that can’t be said with Wimberley. It’s not only extremely sturdy for the heaviest lens and camera, all movement is highly sensitive to even the slightest tightening of tension. This has really been helpful to me as times I want free movement and others I like a bit of resistance.

I work for a film company that produces nature documentaries, and I also lead photo excursions all over the world. Thus, I have seen and used many gimbal heads, witnessed many tragedies, and have been extremely satisfied with the results from the WH200.
The WH 200 has a lot more to offer than a Benro, Opteka, Neewer, Promaster, etc.Night and Day!
In short:
Great bearings, this is why the GH200 it costs a lot more than a gimbal head that only uses gel,  grease,  teflon disks, etc
Extremely smooth and perfectly balanced with many different lenses. We have used GH200 for all our Large teles (1200, 800, 600, with large bodies (D4. D5, teleconverters, strobe lights, and flash extenders) Regardless of weight, we can always balance the head, and lock the arm. Something that almost all other heads are not capable. We cant afford jerky images!
No issues with extreme temperatures. Unlike some other inexpensive units that gum up in cold temperatures.
No grease or gel that will ooze, as in the case on many inferior models. In one of my trips a client had a cheapo gimbal that oozed a greasy substance than damaged the front element of a 200mm  f2.0 prime.
Very safe, and no issues with the metal components breaking under load. In my travels I have seen several instances in which low-quality
gimbals have broke and caused catastrophic damage, including ruptures at the arm and  neck. Many gimbals may look the same, but the quality of the metals are quite different. See pictures of a Nikon 600mm f4  VR lens that went for a swim attached to D5, and SB910 strobe. -In this case the poor quality lower plate broke from the arm-
Also take a look at the letter from Nikon...
No problems with stripped bolts, which is a common malady that caused many inexpensive units to no longer lock.
Do not compromise your expensive gear, by relaying in a mediocre preforming and sometimes dangerous knock-off of a tru gimbal head.

I do a fair amount of wildlife photography, and have always wanted to buy the Wimberley WH-200 gimbal head, but have always stalled secondary to its price. The question was essentially whether it was worth all the money I would spend. One week after purchasing this product my answer was a resounding yes! This gimbal head works very smoothly and is a pleasure to use. The number of sharp images I am acquiring is upward of 90%. This gimbal head has dramatically improved my photography, and would highly recommend it to anyone interested in wildlife or sports photography. I dont write many reviews, but this is genuinely a product worthy of praise.

I replaced a Wimberley Sidekick with this full head unit. It always concerned me that my 500mm f4 VR lens had to be mounted sideways on the Sidekick. The Sidekick had an advantage of allowing me to still have the ball head available. This unit is smooth, oh so smooth in it's movements. The lens mounts sitting down on top of it.

Great piece of equipment. Very solid and easy to set up and use. I mount a 400mm f2.8 on this rig and the lens is virtually weightless.

I have only used it a short time but I can see that I will use it a lot, now that I see how well it works. Even better than I expected.
