The black, Fujifilm X mount Rokinon 12mm f/2.0 NCS CS Lens is a prime wide-angle lens designed specifically for use with APS-C sized image sensors. Providing a 35mm-equivalent focal length of 18mm and a broad 98.9° angle of view, this lens is well-suited for architectural, interior, and landscape images. Its fast f/2.0 maximum aperture is further beneficial to working in low-light conditions.

Three extra-low dispersion elements and two aspherical elements have been incorporated into the optical design to minimize chromatic aberrations and distortion in order to produce sharper images. Additionally, a Nano Coating System (NCS) has been applied to the lens elements in order to reduce surface reflections and prevent lens flare and ghosting for improved light transmission and more contrast-rich imagery

Prime wide-angle lens provides a 35mm-equivalent focal length of 18mm, making it ideally suited for architectural and landscape subjects.

Fast f/2.0 maximum aperture benefits working in low-light conditions.

Three extra-low dispersion elements and two aspherical elements reduce chromatic aberrations and distortions in order to produce sharper images.

Nano Coating System improves light transmission and suppresses lens flare and ghosting for more contrast-rich, color-neutral images.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Would you recommend this lens for filmmakers trying to capture a master shot of an entire scene?

A: It should be fine if exposed correctly, per Jeffrey's advice. I'd just be careful not to have your subject too close to the lens in the scene, as a wide angle lens looks unflattering as it can distort facial features. But establishing shots should be fine.

Q: 2. Basic instructions for getting started using this lens with a Sony a6000 from a newbie with no experience shooting in manual and no experience using non-Sony autofocus lens? Something to get me started so I don't get frustrated with it? The only thing I know is enabling release without lens My use will be 95% landscape shots. Thanks in advance.

A: Set the lens to infinity focus (which will keep pretty much anything outside of 3 feet in focus), and then your only variable will be aperture. Try setting that to 5.6 (of course this depends on available light). One more thing to note is that the infinity setting is sometimes a little off on the dial - try nudging it back and forth until you get a good focus. MF Assist is your friend with this lens, so look up how to use that!

Q: 3. Is there no autofocus on this lens?

A: No autofocus. But with a lens this wide it's quite easy to achieve focus manually. At f8 and focus set to infinity, almost everything is in focus. Just point and shoot.

Q: 4. I know this lens is fully manual but when mounted on an A6000 will it communicate at all with the camera for MF-Assist (auto-zoom) when you turn the focus ring? Also will it provide any lens EXIF data?

A: Hello, I have this lens and in my experience the answer to both your questions is no. It does not do Manual Focus Assist (zoom/enlarge when focusing) or record EXIF data. If I am not mistaken it is not only fully manual but fully 'passive' in the sense that it has no brains/processor at all. That being said: it does work with Focus Peaking (where the screen shows highlights around the in focus area) and you can easily assign a button (I use AEL) for MF Assist. The manual control ring for Aperture works well and often for a semi-automatic experience I put the camera in Aperture Priority mode so it compensates the shutter speed and ISO for me. Overall I enjoy the lens. I hope this info helps you make your choice fellow a6000'erBest regards,Jason

Q: 5. Does this lens have an inherent infinity focus problem? I suspect 90% of my shots would be at infinity, and I just want to turn the focus ring all the way to the stop and forget about it.

A: No,not quite. As is true of most lenses, this one focuses slightly past infinity to allow for variables such as filter refraction, weather impact and manufacturing tolerances. My copy appears to be aligned very close to where the infinity indicator points outward toward the front element. So, if you are shooting stopped down somewhat (roughly f/5.6 or beyond - as would be advised for any landscape shooting), focusing to the hard stop would allow infinity to be in fairly good focus. However, as a fast lens (f/2 wide open), more precise focus accuracy is advisable.

Q: 6. will it work for EM10?

A: The Olympus E-M10 has the micro four thirds mount. This lens is compatible.

Q: 7. Will this lens work with the Panasonic Lumex G 7?

A: all micro 4/3 lenses work on all micro 4/3 cameras, including this lens.

Q: 8. Will this be 12mm or 18mm on my sony a6000? Confused because its made for aps-c but it says 18mm equivalent on 35mm sensor.

A: The focal length of this lens is 12 mm, but since the area of the sensor in a6000 is only a fraction ((2/3)^2) of that of a full-frame 35mm sensor. Therefore, the images taken look like they were cropped from images taken from a full-frame sensor and thus look more zoomed-in , to an extent equivalent to those images taken using a lens of 18mm (3/2 * 12 =18 mm) focal length on a full-frame sensor with no cropping. Hope this helps.

Q: 9. When using this lens, I get black corners in my pictures, it looks like I am looking thru a tube, is there something wrong with lens, or am I doing something wrong? The viewfinder also shows this black distortion.

A: This lens is designed for cameras with an APS-C size sensor. If your camera is full frame, like the Sony A7 series, it will vignette.

Q: 10. Will this fit/work on the Cannon M50?

A: Yes, it will work. The lens is totally manual, no electronics. You're M50 might not recognize that a lens is attached. If so there is a menu setting to allow the camera to operate even when it doesn't sense there is a lens attached.

Really like the sharpness. This is my first wide-angle lens and for the price AND sharpness, its a great buy. What's amazing about this lens is you almost don't need a camera stabilizer, a steady hand and walk can create a smooth tracking shot.

Note: this is my first manual lens. I've been happy with the Rokinon for the night and day landscapes thus far. I'm especially pleased with the star shots.

I really enjoy this lens. I am new to the dslr/mirror less world and it's great that it is manual. It will make me need to learn how to take pictures in manual mode instead of auto. The pictures that I have taken have a lot more depth than my kit lens. I would definitely recommend this lens.
