The black, Sony E-Mount Rokinon 12mm f/2.0 NCS CS Lens is a prime wide-angle lens designed specifically for use with APS-C sized image sensors. Providing a 35mm-equivalent focal length of 18mm and a broad 98.9° angle of view, this lens is well-suited for architectural, interior, and landscape images. Its fast f/2.0 maximum aperture is further beneficial to working in low-light conditions.

Three extra-low dispersion elements and two aspherical elements have been incorporated into the optical design to minimize chromatic aberrations and distortion in order to produce sharper images. Additionally, a Nano Coating System (NCS) has been applied to the lens elements in order to reduce surface reflections and prevent lens flare and ghosting for improved light transmission and more contrast-rich imagery

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I have a problem using with my M5 - the shutter does not work.Message: ... the lens is not attached. What did I do wrong?

A: Go into the camera's menu and select for the shutter to fire without lens attached.

Q: 2. Is the silver the same lens as the black? It is a lot cheaper and I don't want to spend $70 extra to have a black lens

A: Same performance. I've been using it with the a6300 for astro and landscape photography and it always has a home in my travel bag.

Q: 3. Rokinon 12mm f/2.0 NCS CS Lens or Canon EF-M 11-22mm f/4-5.6 IS STM Lens Which should I get for video? Any thoughts?

A: The Rokinon 12mm f2 lens is a complete manual lens. My version was for Fuji X-T10. I like it for still photography. I do not have any experience with shooting videos from SLRs. I feel this Rokinon may not suit your requirements for Video. Check the details for the Canon EF-M and a compatible video DSLR. I have not used the particular Canon lens mentioned here.

Q: 4. Basic instructions for getting started using this lens with a Sony a6000 from a newbie with no experience shooting in manual and no experience using non-Sony autofocus lens? Something to get me started so I don't get frustrated with it? The only thing I know is enabling release without lens My use will be 95% landscape shots. Thanks in advance.

A: Set the lens to infinity focus (which will keep pretty much anything outside of 3 feet in focus), and then your only variable will be aperture. Try setting that to 5.6 (of course this depends on available light). One more thing to note is that the infinity setting is sometimes a little off on the dial - try nudging it back and forth until you get a good focus. MF Assist is your friend with this lens, so look up how to use that!

Q: 5. Is this lens compatible with Panasonic Lumix DMC Gm5K? Can it be used to take galaxy or milk way photos?

A: I use this lens on my Fuji XT2 and it does a great job getting Milky Way shots.

Q: 6. I'm an old school type photographer, have only been using digital for the past 4 years. When I used to photograph with film I would set my wide angle lens focus to infinity for landscapes without ever having to focus in the camera. My images were always razor sharp with my Nikon lens. With this lens can the focus be set at infinity & get same razor sharp result?

A: Really? I'm sorry but there is nothing old school about not bothering to focus a lens. I'm pretty sure Ansel Adams didn't rely on setting a lens to infinity. To answer your question this lens does not have a hard stop at infinity so you need to be careful. In fact the actual marker for infinity is rather different than on other lenses made by Rokinon (Samyang, etc) and only by trial an error will you learn what is infinity or more precisely what focus point gives you sufficient sharpness. If you want to maximize depth of field so that the foreground is in focus as well as the background (not usual for landscapes) you will want to avoid infinity and learn to set the hyper focal distance according to your lens, aperture and distance. This is an excellent lens although I found it too large for micro four thirds.

Q: 7. I know this lens is fully manual but when mounted on an A6000 will it communicate at all with the camera for MF-Assist (auto-zoom) when you turn the focus ring? Also will it provide any lens EXIF data?

A: Hello, I have this lens and in my experience the answer to both your questions is no. It does not do Manual Focus Assist (zoom/enlarge when focusing) or record EXIF data. If I am not mistaken it is not only fully manual but fully 'passive' in the sense that it has no brains/processor at all. That being said: it does work with Focus Peaking (where the screen shows highlights around the in focus area) and you can easily assign a button (I use AEL) for MF Assist. The manual control ring for Aperture works well and often for a semi-automatic experience I put the camera in Aperture Priority mode so it compensates the shutter speed and ISO for me. Overall I enjoy the lens. I hope this info helps you make your choice fellow a6000'erBest regards,Jason

Q: 8. Will this fit/work on the Cannon M50?

A: Yes, it will work. The lens is totally manual, no electronics. You're M50 might not recognize that a lens is attached. If so there is a menu setting to allow the camera to operate even when it doesn't sense there is a lens attached.

Q: 9. What polarizing filter do you recommend for this lens? Do I need a slim line because of the wide angle?

A: I've only used this for night sky photography and can't answer that from experience. But yes, a slimline filter is a necessity with this lens.

Q: 10. will it work for EM10?

A: The Olympus E-M10 has the micro four thirds mount. This lens is compatible.

I was surprised at the size of this lens. I recently purchased a Rokinon 85 1.4 and it is a large lens on my Olympus OMD E10 Mark II. The 12mm 2.0 is much smaller since, it was made for the Micro 4/3 sensor. If you don't like manual focus and manual exposure, this is not the lens for you. I'm old enough to remember manual lenses, and love this lens. It is sharp even at 2.0. Buy it...you won't regret the purchase. As always B & H is top notch as well.

I love this Rokinon 12mm lens! Even though it is manual focus, combined with focus peaking on my Sony a6000 it is teaching me not to rely so much on auto focus even with my other lenses. I recently went on a solo photo trip to New York and this was my go-to lens. Highly recommended.

I love this lens, I like 12mm focal lens on my A6000, its equal to 18mm on a full frame camera. Even though this is a manual lens but its very easy to get focus using focus peaking in A6000. This lens is sharp enough at f/2 and because of only 12mm so I can set the shutter speed to 1/20 hand held in low light situation and still get good results. Build quality is very good, lens hood is included. Not to forget B&H shipping and handling is very professional, this is my first purchase at B&H, I live in Canada and I get my lens 4 days after ordering it with free shipping, awesome. Very happy with my purchase.

I really enjoy this lens. I am new to the dslr/mirror less world and it's great that it is manual. It will make me need to learn how to take pictures in manual mode instead of auto. The pictures that I have taken have a lot more depth than my kit lens. I would definitely recommend this lens.

Landscape. This is a landscape photographers dream. Also great for real estate and astrophotography. Lens is cheap in price but feels very well made and robust. Focus and aperture adjustments are smooth. Lens is very sharp at f/16 for the shots I've done so far. All in all...this lens is worth more than it sells for IMO. If you want to shoot landscape...get this lens. Keep in mind however...it is a manual lens.

I bought this lens almost three months ago. For the promotional price I paid it was almost a steal. It fills all my wide angle needs for my Sony a6000. This is a wonderful lens, it is very sharp, at f/2, a feature that really surprised me. I did some Milky Way testing with an equatorial mount and the pinpoint size and color rendition of the stars are amazing. It has a slight CA and astigmatism at f/2, but it disappears at f/2.4, only half stop away. The ED elements do their work here. Focus peaking works perfectly in my a6000. The lens is mechanically outstanding for this price tag. Thanks to the salesman at the NYC store for suggesting me this lens, I love it!!!
