Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Why do you need the filter if you are wearing proper safety glasses?

A: You need the filter to protect your camera's sensor before and after totality. You should remove it during totality. Also, use the camera's display screen and not the viewfinder to protect your eyes.

Q: 2. How do I connect the JLCooper Eclipse TX Compact Transport Controller to a MacBook Pro's USB-C port?

A: The JLCooper Eclipse TX Midnight Compact Transport Controller uses Ethernet for communication with the host devices.

Q: 3. This cable would work with the Profoto D1 500 Air?

A: Yes this cable is compatible with the Profoto D1 Air 500.

Q: 4. Would this cable work with a Profoto D1 1000w Air Monolight?

A: yes!

Q: 5. What color does the sun appear - blue, yellow, red?

A: The sun's not yellow, it's chicken. - B. DylanActually it looks yellow through the eclipse filter. I've made some packing foam shims to hold it to the lens. It can be difficult to find the sun with your camera. I need a wide open f stop, and 1 or 2 seconds shutter.

Q: 6. What size should I get for Canon 70-200?

A: If you go to Daystar website or call them on the phone, I think that is where I read that if you have the 77MM pro lens, meaning it is 77MM in diameter then get the 65 - 89 Solar filter. I have the 70-200 F2.8 non IS lens. I did not put it on yet.

Q: 7. So if you're going to use it on a Canon R6 you'd need two adaptors?

A: All you would need is the Vivitar T-Mount to Canon RF-Mount Adapter. Link to Item: https://bhpho.to/2R13gQg

Q: 8. what is the ND equivalent of this filter?

A: The DayStar Filters 70mm White-Light Universal Lens Solar Filter (Single, 65-89mm OD) is a solar filter and not an ND. So there is no density rating for it.

Q: 9. Will I need this to take picture of the eclipse with my Sony A99?

A: Absolutely! All cameras risk (will sustain) light sensor damage when imaging the Sun without a proper filter with the exception of the 2 minutes or so of totality of a total eclipse. This only takes place in the ribbon of totality which during the upcoming Aug. 21st event will be only 70 miles or so wide and at very specific times per location.

Q: 10. If using 67 mm lens which one is better to use 65-89, or 50-69?

A: My selection would be for the smaller, DayStar Filters 50mm White-Light Universal Lens Solar Filter (Single, 50-69mm OD) BH #DAULF50 • MFR #ULF50

These were given to a retirement/nursing home hours before the eclipse. They were ecstatic, all of the residents now had glasses. Everyone had a great time. The witness signature and date on the glasses was also greatly appreciated.

Bought a 10 pack for the 4/8/2024 eclipse, distributed to family and friends. The glasses worked great - made in USA too!

They're cardboard, which is good for single use (biodegradable except for the filters themselves), and you can push them right up against your glasses.

B&H consistently provides quality Eclipse viewing glasses that protect eyes of my dearest neighborhood children and their parents. It was especially reassuring when I decided to give Eclipse glasses instead of eggs for the holiday. Thank you B&H for a chance to sneak in a safe educational opportunity to my holiday experience with the children. XOXO, G'ma Lily

Because they meet the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 12312-2 certification, and that has set clear guidelines for glasses that’ll keep your eyes protected for the eclipse. The price is great and you can record the date and place you saw the eclipse to be displayed for posterity. Perfect.
