Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How close do you have to be for it to pick up the sound? I need a mic for a classroom with remote instructor.

A: The Samson G-Track Pro USB Microphone is a condenser style microphone and it should be placed approximately 6 to 12 inches from the mouth for the best audio quality. If you need a microphone to pick up sound from several feet away, you can use a boundary microphone. If you are looking for a USB microphone, you can use models such as the MXL AC-404 Portable USB Boundary Conferencing Microphone (B&H # MXAC404), the Polsen Omnidirectional USB Boundary Microphone with Mute (B&H # POUSOB33), or the CAD U7 Omnidirectional USB Boundary Microphone (B&H # CAU7).

Q: 2. What's the size of usb cable that plugs into the unit it self. I need a cable to connect into a new iMac?

A: The MicMate has a USB Mini connector.

Q: 3. Could I plug a wireless Sennheiser lavalier receiver into this for Skype?

A: The Sennheiser transmitter is battery powered and cannot use the phantom power feature. This product is not designed o be compatible with Sennheiser bodypack transmitters.

Q: 4. Does the G-Track come with recording software?

A: No, recording software is not included with the G-Track Pro.

Q: 5. I use two MXL ribbon mics which DO NOT (and shouldn't) have phantom power. Is the phantom power switchable on this USB adapter??

A: There is a 48v power button on the front, so yes the phantom power is switchable

Q: 6. Can I plug a line out or radio lav mic output into the instrument input?

A: No. The input level for instruments is different than line level.

Q: 7. Hello,I need a lightweight battery powered preamp. It will be used for nature sounds recording with a matched pair Rode NT5 and a Tascam DP008EX recorder. This preamp doesn't have XLR outs bu 1/4'', and the recorder has 2 1/4'' inputs. Is it possible to use this preamp with my recorder? Thanks!Dani

A: Hi Dani,Yes, you can use the 1/4 outputs from the preamplifier to directly drive the 1/4 inputs in your recorder. you only need to buy or build two simple cables with plugs at both ends. As far as signal voltage levels are concerned, I don't expect any problem because you can comfortably adjust the preamplifier monitor level to prevent saturation of your recorder inputs (by the way, the 1/4 outputs and the 1/8 outputs both depend on the monitor knob). As far as equalization is concerned, I don't expect a problem either, assuming the recorder inputs have a flat response - i.e. are not designed for musical instruments (if the latter applies, you might need re-equalization during recording or playback, but I'd not consider this as a drawback). Therefore, this wonderful preamplifier meets your needs. Cheers from Italy.

Q: 8. Is this mic made in China? If not, where?

A: This USB microphone is made in China.

Q: 9. Anyone try this with an iphone/ipad with Apple Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter? Looks like, it should work but just want to make sure.

A: thank you for your question. This unit will not work with iOS devices.

Q: 10. Can one use this simply as a stereo mic amplifier with a 9v battery and no USB connection?

A: The ART USB Dual Pre can operate as a standalone mic preamp using 9V battery or AC power.
