Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. what are the interior dimensions?

A: The Pelican iM2500TP Case with TrekPak Dividers (Black) interior dimension is 20.5 x 11.5 x 7.2" / 52.1 x 29.2 x 18.3 cm.

Q: 2. Will the f-stop Pro ICU fit in the IM2500 with the understanding that you will lose some space in the ICU because of the wheels?

A: Based on its outer dimensions, the f-stop Shallow ICU (Black, Medium), BH #FSM226 would seem to offer the best fit inside of the Pelican iM2500 Storm Trak Case without Foam.

Q: 3. Hi just want to know the condition of the item. (New or used)

A: This Pelican iM2500 Storm Trak Case without Foam (Olive Drab Green) is new. All items are new unless stated otherwise.

Q: 4. I'm a go-to Pelican guy. Yet, after reading one review versus the comparable Nanuk case, can anyone vouch for the Nanuk being superior quality and possessing more attention to detail?

A: I’ve used both brands. They’re different, and I’d say the pelican is what I’d use if I needed to be sure it would stay dry. I’d use the other brand for average uses and it’s possibly a bit more innovative with designs.

Q: 5. Would it be possible to have larger rubber wheels fitted to the iM2500 as we've found that we need much more ground clearance in our application?

A: Unfortunately these wheels are not interchangeable. They are dedicated to the case.

Q: 6. Are G-RAID drives proprietary? I see they all have some kind of "frame" around the drive itself...can I use any drive, or do I need to buy a proprietary one with that frame already installed? Thanks!

A: G-Raid drives are not proprietary, and the G-RAID Shuttle 4 can take any standard 3.5" SATA drives.

Q: 7. Is the foam glued in?

A: The foam is not glued in!

Q: 8. Entiende usted, que lo que quiero saber si yo con mis 85 kilos de peso puedo pararme sobre este estuche sin romperlo ?

Q: 9. Will this hold a Canon EF 600mm f/4L IS II USM lens and Canon 7D MKii body attached?

A: Yes, a 600mm f/4L Canon lens and 7D Mark II will fit in this case.

Q: 10. I have an older imac with thunderbolt 2. Is it possible to connect this, using a dongle, to convert thunderbolt 3 to 2? Am I losing valuable performance?

A: It is not recommended to use this device with any other connection aside from Thunderbolt 3. The lack of bandwidth in Thunderbolt 2 could cause a whole variety of issues, including data loss.

If you are, like me, looking at the iM2500 because the you nearly had a heart attack when you saw the price of the Pelican Elite luggage, congratulations! This box is great. Wheels are VERY sturdy, quick open latches (the reason for the storm trak) are strong, genuine Pelican quality.Granted, no, it does not look as good as the 22 Elite Carry-on, but is that worth $ to you? HECK NO! ($ if you get the travel package). Save that $ and you could buy 51.75 Starbucks Mocha Frappuccinos! You could almost buy .1 oz of 50 year old Macallan!I bought the yellow to stand out if I ever put it in checked luggage. Good buy.General FYI: the wheels and rolling system take up a little of the bottom of the box, just don't freak out when you remove all of the foam and the bottom isn't flat.

I was looking at the two carryon cases made by Pelican, the 1510 vs the iM2500. I ended up with iM2500 based on two things: the pull handle and the latches. The pull handle on the iM2500 does not flex like the 1510. The only thing that I do not like about the iM2500 is that it does not have the screw holes in the lid that securely hold the lid organizer. I'm hoping that the velcro will keep the organizer in place. The other thing is I wish they made some rubber feet. There seems to be 4 cutouts on the bottom of the case that you can put rubber feet into but I do not see anywhere to buy such a thing.

You can fit a surprising amount of gear in this compact case. I personally use this to transport my Mac Pro with external hard drives, keyboard, mouse and cables, and I specifically wanted a durable case, with a retractable handle and wheels, that would fit perfectly in an overhead bin when traveling. I did purchase the padded dividers, but in retrospect, I would have been better to go with the pick and pluck foam. The reason is that the padded dividers are meant to divide the case width-wise instead of height-wise. In my instance, I only used the main portion (box) of the padded dividers, and I fabricated my own vertical dividers with velcro on three sides in order to customize it to my needs.

Full disclosure--I use this as luggage. No foam, no inserts, not even a lid organizer. At it's price point, it is nearly equal to other big name, pretty sturdy luggage. I care about the items I travel with, it dawned on me I should care about what I carry them in. The wheels of the Im2500 are like those of inline skates, meaning they are pretty rubbery. Tight on the axel though. They do not free spin if flicked with your finger. The 1510 has plastic wheels. I like this because I perceive this case will make far less noise when wheeled. Unfortunately both cases do not have 4 swivel wheels. The iM2500's handel is more sturdy and my opinion much nicer than the 1510. There is quite a bit of flex to the 1510 design. Another downer, both cases require two hands to extend the handle. The iM2500 has a continuous hinge along the back. The 1510 has two short hinges. With the lid open there is some, but not much flex. i believe the thickness in general and with the continuous hinge, the lid will never become out of alignment. I wish both cases had an integral business card holder near the top handle for identification. I've lost my share of luggage tags over the years and having permanent mounted identification on the case is a good idea. Why did I not buy actual Pelican luggage? At this writing, it was WAY too expensive. I could buy 2.3 of these for one carry on Pelican luggage. They have rubbery wheels and the best solution for the handle. More attractive colors and design too. But unfortunately just plain too expensive.
