The DeckLink 8K Pro Mini Capture Card from Blackmagic Design is a low-profile 8-lane PCIe Gen2 digital cinema capture and playback card with four bidirectional 12G-SDI micro-BNC connectors that accept resolutions from SD, DCI 4K (4096 x 2160), and DCI 8K at up to 60 fps. The card supports 8- and 10-bit YUV as well as 8-, 10-, and 12-bit RGB color.

The four 12G-SDI connections support 16 channels of embedded audio each, for a total of 64 channels. DeckLink 8K Pro is perfect for the next generation of high-resolution, high frame rate, and high dynamic range workflows. The card is compatible with most major imaging, effects, and NLE apps and latest macOS, Windows, and Linux operating systems.

Q: 1. Can use cable SDI 3G/s for HD ?

A: Yes HDTV cable is fine for HD signal and the decklink card will capture and output HD if set to do so.

A: The answer is yes. If you want a better answer, ask a better question. What do you want to feed the two inputs to? Does that app support the use you plan? You might be surprised to learn that not all apps and not all cards support all the use cases you might imagine.

Q: 3. Embedded SDI TC with Media Composer?

A: This should work as our SDK provides the information necessary to allow third party applications to support TC over SDI from our I/O devices, but contact AVID to confirm Media Composer supports this.

Q: 4. Does this card have to be powered form the motherboard?

A: Correct. The unit get power via motherboard compatible with 8, 16 lane PCI Express slots. We suggest using a PCIE slot 16x in order to receive data rates of 40gbps / 1.6 gbps.

A: Yes, since there are 4 bidirectional SDI inputs and outputs, and 4K/1080p video standards are supported.

Q: 8. Hi. Can I use it as a replacement of a GPU or i need both? I need 4 independent outputs, but I'm confussed about the needing of GPU also. I've an i7 10th gen GPU integrated, 32gb RAM.

A: The Blackmagic Design Decklink 8K Pro Cinema Capture Card is not a replacement for a traditional graphics card. You will still need a GPU within your system, integrated or through a PCI connection.

Q: 9. Does this card add the ability to output 1080i on macOS Monterey? The OS update removed interlaced as an output option.

A: The Blackmagic Design Decklink 8K Pro Cinema Capture Card will support 1080i output. However, this will not extend the desktop to additional screens.

Q: 10. Does this card do everything that the DeckLink Duo 2 card does? What functionality is missing? It looks like you have 4 8k capture cards in one package, yes?

A: No. It is not like the Duo. It is a single input output card that may take up to 4 connections to form a signal. They are not independent.

It works so well, truly. You get 4 independent SDI inputs. I'm using this to do a live 4-camera stream. I couldn't be happier. Just read a little bit the manual to ensure you properly map the SDI connectors using the software included. 5

When you consider it simply as several video/display interface outputs, it works great. Yes, you can adjust frame rate and resolution. The key thing to remember, and I wish BMD made this more clear, this card is NOT a GPU and depends on whatever GPU the computer has. We use it with Renewed Vision ProPresenter 7.x on a Dell PC workstation. We apply genlock to the input port of the card and use all four outputs at 1080p59.94 without a hitch. 5
