This Holga lens gives great Holgaesque images and was very reasonably priced.

Typically, the only people who buy one of these are really into this sort of retro-effects photography. Which is great, but even if that's not usually your thing, I highly recommend getting one of these to keep around, because it's a fantastic creative challenge.I'm not really into the Holga look for my photos, and I was hesitant to get one of these, but I don't regret the decision. I still have to be in the mood for the effect, but even if I never upload the shots I got, the act of using it stirs creativity in a way nothing else can come close to. So if I feel like I'm having a creative block, or just not in the mood to take photos, I snap on the Holga lens and spend the afternoon in a park or something. Even if the results weren't spectacular, the act of using it and forcing myself into a purely composition-focused mode is a ton of fun.

I love shooting my Holga cameras but shooting thru this lens on a digital slr is very different. In lower light, and I'm not talking about dark, it's almost impossible to see thru. Even outside in the bright sunshine everything is dark looking thru the viewfinder. It takes a little getting used to but the photos are great, just like my Holga cameras. So if you love your Holga camera then you will love this lens. If you've never messed with a Holga then I would not recommend it. It is in no way a traditional type lens, it's for fun. This is a great little lens and is exactly what you'd expect. Plastic, cheap lens that give your photos a vignette and slightly fuzzy out of focus look. It's been great shooting video with this as well. For the price i just don't understand why anyone wouldn't get it. Sure it's not very every occasion but use it once and it'll pay for itself. Highly recommended.

I purchased this lens as an experiment with surreal photography. At first, it is a bit difficult to work with: No metering or aperture control, no auto focus, and focal vignetting. However, with a bit of experimentation, this lens will produce excellent results. The vignette and focal vignetting will give a soft, dreamy look to your photography.

Who would have thought that my years of the love of photography would take in the direction of desiring a plastic lens. How charming it is that each lens seems to have its own personality, area of greater sharpness, and unique vignetting. The soft focus causes me to have to choose a definite subject and be more aware of a strong composition. The dreamy texture of the images lends a certain mood that is really the right tool for the job sometimes. Sometimes it's just fun to experiment with being limited. That's when your true genius emerges. This lens really is a light hog, so you'll probably use it more outdoors in daytime, or maybe grab your tripod for some creative sessions with it. Regardless, this lens is a blast. I think it's got plenty of bang for the buck.

I knew what I was ordering - a simple Canon lens that would replicate the effect of using a vintage toy camera. And I know the lens is tough, because it was sent in this minimal stiff-card-stock stiff envelope that offered the lens no protection whatsoever. When I got the package, the lens box had been totally squished; the only thing keeping the package from going entirely flat was the lens itself. We put it on a camera, and it was fine - so far. So this is one tough little product.

Aperture is a bit to sharp for my liking. I opened mine up with a pocket knife to get similar results as the Holga camera.. Images will appear fullframed if you're using a 5D
