A: Hey Paul,You could mount a ball head with a maximum base diameter of 2.25, and still see/use the bubble level. This Acratech Leveling Base is awesome; superbly made, and quite functional. I use it with an equally superb FLM CB-38 FTII ball head (2.15 base), and it works great. BTW, I can highly recommend it with the FLM CP-26 Travel Tripod!
