Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Anyone know if you can remove the bowl of this head to mount it directly to a still photo tripod with a 3/8"-16 screw?

A: Yes, the Miller AIR Fluid Head has a removable ball level stud for flat base mounting (sliders) with 3/8” screw hole.

Q: 2. Will this 100mm head fit on a Vinten tripod with 100mm bowl?

A: The Miller CX10 Fluid Head (B&H# MI1096) will fit in tripods, hi-hats, and bowl adapters conforming to the 100mm bowl standard. Please note that the particulars of inter-brand fit can vary, however, so we cannot promise that every user will be satisfied with every combination. However, we do offer 30 days to return this item (with all packaging items and packing materials, and in the same shape it was received) if it does not meet your needs.

Q: 3. I will be upgrading from a Benro H8. I know this head is WAY better. My main complaint with the Benro is, the maximum drag is really weak. I want heavy drag that you really have to push on so slow movements are highly controlled. Is the heaviest drag on this head really stiff?

A: Yes not only is the Miller more stiff at its maximum setting it also offers more steps in between the lightest and toughest setting.

Q: 4. Does this head come with a pan bar, or is it optional?

A: It comes with a pan handle. You can however get an extra one if you wish. Miller 681 Pan Bar Handle for Select Video Heads B&H # MI681.

Q: 5. does the side mount system in these heads work directly with arri style long dove plates? or will I have to screw it onto the head's proprietary plate?

A: Miller has their own proprietary quick release plate system. You will need to add a dovetail if you intend to use this tripod with Arri standard dovetail mounts.

Q: 6. Will Manfrotto plates work with this head?

A: No, sorry they are not compatible. If you must use Manfrotto, you could use the Manfrotto 577 Rapid Connect Adapter with Sliding Mounting Plate (501PL) B&H # MA577 or the Manfrotto 357 Pro Quick Release Adapter with 357PL Plate B&H # MA357. You would attach either of these to the Miller quick release.

Q: 7. Does the head come with a Pan Handle stick?

A: The Tripod head does come with a pan handle.

Q: 8. Is the 3rd step of drag on the CX6 similar to the 5th step on the CX8 or is it less? Is the difference just fewer steps in-between or is it less drag overall?

A: Comparisons between the drag settings is not something listed by Miller on any head. The key in this case is that the CX8 offers more adjust-ability with 5 steps over 3 steps on the CX6. However we are not aware of a direct comparison between the steps.

Q: 9. Is the sliding plate on this tripod compatible with the regular Miller Air head?

A: No the Miller AIRV (VERSA) plate is not compatible with the Miller AIR head. However you could add the following Manfrotto Quick Release adapter to the plate of the AIR HEAD. The MA557 once attached to the Miller AIR Plate will accept Miller Versa plates from the AIRV head. Manfrotto 577 Rapid Connect Adapter with Sliding Mounting Plate (501PL) BH #MA577

Q: 10. What is the temperature rating of this head?

A: This head has a Temperature Range between -40° to +149°F.
