The large hole Rycote 18cm Super-Softie Wind Shield for Shotgun Mics features an aerodynamic shape and surface structure made from the company's 3D-Tex material, which allows for attenuation of wind noise with acoustic transparency. The 18cm Super-Softie has no rigid internal structure, thus it causes virtually no polar pattern distortion. It's robust design has been engineered for use in challenging environments, and if it becomes rain-soaked, it can be squeezed out and shaken dry quickly. Also, if it becomes coated with dust it can be rinsed quickly without affecting its performance.

Unless you need to record audio on the beach during a hurricane this Rycote Super Softie will protect against wind noise on most windy days. It is well build, easy to put on/remove from the microphone and it is attractive. 5

Excellent Zeppelin! You can tell it's made by Rycote. Very light. Ingenuitive and easy to use. Very low handling noise. Really can't complain. When compared to other blimps in a similar price range (such as the Rode) this is the clear winner. Don't let the low price fool you - this is a great product 5

Great design from Rycote. Fits my RODE NTG3 perfectly and it weighs a lot less than the RODE Blimp. The new suspension system is very easy to use and you can't beat the price. 5

Many people go with Rode products since they seem to be more well known, but after watching a presentation of Rycote from a past NAB, I saw how dedicated they were to the wind/ outdoor sound area, literally custom fabricating shields for outdoor golf broadcasts, rain, etc, I was impressed. I purchased this for an outdoor shoot and on the day there were about 20mph winds. I monitored the audio the whole time and this thing SAVED my life. Id highly recommend this product, the quality is impeccable and the results SAVED my shoot. Clients couldn’t believe the sound quality I was able to achieve. 5

Such a good blimp for boom work, the dead cat handles heavy wind like a pro. I could wish the XLR clamp wasnt so close at the base which sometimes gets tight against the boom pole mount, but its not a big deal- no real design flaws in this whole piece. 5

This is a great quick slide on solution when you're in a hurry. It's not a blimp so don;t expect it to stop strong winds but works great for moderate to light winds. 5

My favorite mic for interrior dialog and interviews is the MKH50, and with this Super-Softie on it, I can now also use it outdoors. I have (so far) only tried it in moderate wind conditions, but it seems to work quite well. Very happy. 5
