Q: 1. what is the distance spacing for more than one Access point of this type? Thanks

A: It depends on what it has to go through. 400' line of sight, but drywall, metal, cement, stone, glass etc will all weaken the signal. So it may only work in the room it is in or cover a whole house.

Q: 2. I got this because I have 30 years of photography, but I need to eliminate my duplicates. Can you suggest a program to do it?

A: The Ubiquiti Networks UNVR-PRO UniFi Protect NVR Pro (No HDD), BH #UBUNVRPRO is deigned for surveillance applications. It sounds like you are looking for NAS storage. Something like this might be a good starting point for your consideration: Synology DiskStation DS223j 2-Bay NAS Enclosure (B&H # SYDS223J) Key Features: 2 x 3.5/2.5" SATA HDD/SSD Drive Bays 1.7 GHz Realtek RTD1619B Quad-Core 1GB of DDR4 RAM 1 x Gigabit Ethernet Port 2 x USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 Ports RAID 0, 1, Basic, Hybrid, and JBOD

Q: 3. What real world wifi speeds are you all seeing with these WAPs? I have gigabit internet that runs about 800-900mb/s on all the wired devices, but only see between 70-120mb/s when on the AC wifi using Luxul WAP-1510's.

A: We've seen up to 400mbs on these. However a typical wi-fi AC connection depends on the device, distance, interference, etc. Real world for us is 120-180mbs for most devices.

Q: 4. Can this product be installed in a dry location on a screened porch?

A: The Ubiquiti Networks UniFi IW HD In-Wall Wi-Fi Access Point BH #UBUAPIWHDUS is designed for indoor use but it might be ok if you are sure it will be dry and it won't be exposed to direct sunlight. It is rated to work at: Operating Temperature: -10 to 60° C (14 to 140° F) Operating Humidity: 5 to 95% Noncondensing

Q: 5. Will this work with the dream machine?

A: Yes, it is compatible. It does not come with power so you can either use a poe switch or injector such as: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1079129-REG/ubiquiti_networks_poe_48_24w_poe_adapter_poe.html

Q: 6. Does this product come with a POE Injector or do you need that separately?

A: This model does not come bundled with the injector, it would need to be purchased separately.

Q: 7. Does each one of the modules require hardwire (RJ45) connection to main unit?

A: This unit will need to be connected to a switch for POE power

Q: 8. Can I use the PoE adapter in Australia with our 250V?

A: Yep! The adapter supports all worldwide AC power standards (Australia is actually 230V, by the way) - you'll need a cable with an Australian plug on it, it's a cloverleaf cable like many laptop bricks use, also called IEC C5, officeworks and others (jaycar) sell them.

Q: 9. How hard is this unit to install and operate? I am not extremely technical or computer savvy will I have a hard time?

A: It's not hard to install or setup but there may be some conceptual issues that come into play for a non-technical user. The biggest thing you need to understand is that its a wireless bridge only, not a router . You'll need an additional device to do NAT, firewall, DHCP, port forwarding... all of the features that most consumer wireless routers do.The upside of this device is the stellar WIFI coverage (at this price) and the management features when you have more than one AP, or are running multiple SSIDs. Also the PPoE feature allows you to mount it unobtrusively on a ceiling or wall (theres a config option to shut the lights off and it just looks like another smoke alarm type device). If you don't understand any of the above terms, there may be a bit of a learning curve with this device.

Q: 10. The overview says two Ethernet ports if you feed PoE will it send out PoE on the 2nd port to another AP?

A: From manual: The Secondary port is a Gigabit Ethernet port usedfor bridgingwouldnt be on it

Replace your consumer grade wireless router you bought from @ with an EdgeRouter or USG from Ubiquiti and one of these access points and the days of dropped connections and flaky netflix are over. This access point has been shown in some studies to actually improve your IQ by a measurable amount as well as help bring harmony to your home. The glowing blue ring of wifi bliss is an added night lite bonus. (can be turned off)If your switch does not support POE you must use the supplied injector. The power cord on the injector is very short, so plan ahead. This unit does not even blink when faced with almost 20 wireless devices simultaneously connected. Phones, Rokus, laptops, Dish Hoppers, iPads, android tablets, etc.

After trying endlessly with complex router and repeater setups, powerline networking and $- top-of-the-line consumer equipment, I was tired of buggy firmware and inconsistent performance that seemed no better than the many cheap and popular offerings. The higher Tx of expensive wifi routers lead to full bars on receiving devices, but don't accurately reflect many devices inability to talk back with the same range and power, leading to odd signal drops and delays. The UniFi equipment is rock solid, realistic and excellent value for AC hardware. With two AP's, none of the 15+ devices on my network at any given time have dropped even once in the few months I've owned them. Throughput is great with all applicable devices successfully locking onto the fastest supported link speed.Roaming and band-steering works effectively, and the Java-based management console is top-notch for small business and prosumer use with features not typically found on consumer-grade equipment. Ubiquity releases firmware and software updates to improve performance and add useful features. They work perfectly using PoE from a Mikrotik RB260GSP (recommended to me over UniFi's PoE switches in that price range). I do recommended turning down the Tx power on the AP's when more than one is used for better roaming performance and less interference. The packaging, product and software all showcase quality and attention to detail, and the AP's look great ceiling-mounted but can also be tucked away if preferred. The closest consumer hardware can get is multiple AirPort Extremes, but you pay a higher price while also sacrificing features and manageability. I was uncertain at first, looking at other small business AP solutions, but I'm glad I went with the UniFi and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

I was using the older Ubiquiti access point that was only on 2.4GHz and I had lots of trouble in my apartment with the wifi. Now with the 5GHz and the ac, everything works very reliably and fast. Even Chromecast 2.0 is zippy and works like it should. I'm very happy with this product. But if you don't know computers very well, you'll find this hard to set up. It's a prosumer product and emphasizes capability over ease.

I bought this to work in conjunction with the ER-X. It works perfectly, and gives a lot of control over your wireless network.

Just note, the ER-X uses EdgeOS software to set up and configure. This AP uses UniFi Controller. The UniFi controller can be installed on a computer on your network to configure, etc. You do not have to have the UniFi Controller running on a computer after configuration UNLESS you want the extra features like Guest Portal (space for your "guests" to login to use your WiFI). I have a RaspberryPI running the UniFi Controller and it works perfectly.

Been using Ubiquiti UAP for years. The newest AC release is a great step forward. The older UAP's diminished speeds on some networks but the throughput on these devices is close to ethernet speeds (in preliminary testing). Was not paying enough attention to realize that the 5 pack does not include the Passive POE Injectors. You will need to order them separately or purchase the Ubiquiti Switch that has POE sensor for the proprietary passive injectors on these devices. The LITE version does not conform to 802.3af standard.

I got the 5 pack to cover a large home and surrounding property. The range is so good that I really could have done it with 4. Has been rock solid for 2 weeks. Will report problems if I ever have them. It was pretty easy to setup on of the AP's as a client which then provided wired Internet access to the detached garage.

I have used Ubiquity UniFi equipment in two church network installations and they have been fantastic. The hardware is high quality, the administration is easy to use, and the price is inexpensive. The end result is a professional network at an approachable price. I especially like the AC-Lite AP, which combines several upper-end features (gigabit ethernet port, dual-band, multiple SSID, guest networks, and support for everything up to 802.11AC) into a very small and very reasonably priced package. There are some higher-end models that pack in more antennas for higher throughput, but I found these to be just right for our installations.

Purchased this, along with an Edgerouter SFP to replace an aging Netgear router/wireless AP in my apartment. This AP is definitely overkill as far as range is concerned. It provides a stable/quick connection at a great price. I wasn't able to mount this thing on my ceiling right away; I just let it sit on the floor for a few days and you can tell the massive difference in connection quality. Mount this thing on your ceiling if you get it. I guess my only gripe would be the UniFi software. I would really prefer to be able to just log into the AP itself rather than running a controller installed on a PC. It is designed to be an enterprise solution so if this AP is the only UniFi piece of equipment in your network, the UniFi software is going to look very empty or incomplete (photo attached). I knew how the software was going to work prior to my purchase; it's definitely not enough to take a star away. This is probably one of the best wireless APs on the market for the price whether you place 20 of them in an office building, or 1 of them in your living room.

I'm pretty happy with this AP. Its just an AP, not a wireless router so it doesn't have any NAT or firewall features, which is fine by me, I have a Pfsense firewall that does all that for me. Its PoE, though the PoE is somewhat non-standard in that only works with the injector that comes with the unit.I have the unit mounted on the ceiling in my central hallway and its completely inconspicuous, especially given that you can shut the blue LED status ring off so that it looks just like a smoke detector. I bought 2, one for upstairs and one for the basement. They are configured identically with the unifi software. Setting them up took about 20m. I did a bit of speed testing and am seeing 760mbps or so straight out of the box in the place that I usually work, so for the $ or $ these units cost I'm pretty happy.

We have two other Ubiquiti products: Unifi AP and UniFi AP Outdoor. I have used both for a little over two years and they are very reliable and stable with an average of 10-20 devices in use simultaneously spread among the two. I have streamed HD video on at least 8 devices simultaneously and they all streamed perfectly, no hiccups. I've been using this latest model, the UAP-AC-LITE, for about 1 month now. Just as reliable and stable as the others and I really appreciate that it has gigabit connectivity now. The AC is fast. Our internet service is 120 Mb DL/10 Mb UL. When connected via ethernet I consistently obtain 123 Mb/10.5 Mb. When connected via the UAP-AC-LITE 5GHz AC and my laptop is approximately 15 feet from the AP, I get 110 Mb/10.5 Mb. AWESOME!! Very easy to setup. I use the Guest Portal feature so that I can separate out guests from my own devices. Same network, same IP addressing scheme, but only DHCP and DNS (AFAIK) are forwarded to all devices. So, while a device on the guest network can see devices on the inside network, they cannot connect to them, not even PING. I may be missing something here, so definitely do your own research, but I feel very comfortable and secure with it. At this price (which I'm not listing since it is requested that you don't list prices) it is an amazing deal. I am definitely going to be getting a few for people for birthdays!! Yup, I'm that much of a geek, lol. Happy networking!!
