A unique wide-angle prime marrying versatility and distinctness, the black Nikon Z-mount Velvet 28mm f/2.5 Lens with Copper Rings from Lensbaby is a lens with a look reminiscent of classic portrait optics, but with the broad field of view to suit outdoor, landscape, and even close-up subjects. Characterized by a smooth, glowing aesthetic, this lens's softness can be controlled by stopping down in order to produce a range of effects from soft and dreamy, to sharper at smaller apertures. A 12-blade diaphragm also contributes to the lens's aesthetic and helps to produce a smooth bokeh quality to suit shallow depth of field imagery. Additionally, the manual focus design affords a working distance of 2" with a maximum reproduction ratio of 1:2 to benefit working with close-up subjects.

The f/2.5 maximum aperture strikes a balance between brightness and depth of field control and maintaining an overall sleek profile.

A working distance of 2", along with a 1:2 reproduction ratio, suits working with close-up subjects.

Inspired by classic portrait lenses from the mid-20th century, this lens is designed to produce an ethereal glowing quality with soft, smooth tonality that is well suited to isolating subject matter.

Multi-coated elements resist flare and help to maintain accurate color rendering when working in strong lighting conditions.

Manual focus design with a smooth, dampened focusing movement is complemented by engraved focus distance indicators.

A 12-blade diaphragm contributes to a smooth bokeh quality that is ideal for selective focus imagery.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this work on the Z7 with the adaptor?

A: Yes.

Q: 2. will this work on a canon rebel eos t5 1200d ?

A: This is a RF lens, so it would not work on a Canon Rebel camera.

Q: 3. Because this is a full frame lens will it work with a Canon 40D?

A: Yes

Q: 4. Is there a way to use the Nikon D90 meter with the Lensbaby 56mm velvet?

A: No, there is not. According to page 230 of the Nikon D90 User Manual under "Compatible Non-CPU Lenses," Nikon states that the lens may only be used when the camera is in mode [M]. Selecting another mode disables the shutter release. Aperture must be adjusted manually via the lens aperture ring, and the camera's autofocus system, metering, electronic analog exposure display, depth-of-field preview and i-TTL flash control cannot be used. As such, I would recommend to first take a picture with your desired settings, then review the image on the camera's rear LCD screen, then adjust your camera settings based on your image review and capture another image (then repeat as necessary).

Q: 5. I understand this lens is totally manual. How does one obtain aperture settings?

A: Twist the aperture ring on the lens itself to change the aperture.

Q: 6. Which is a good lens for jewelry? For canon rebel T6s

A: The Sigma 70mm macro would be a great lens for jewelry with the Canon T6s camera. Please take a look at the following link: https://bhpho.to/2BNkC9q

Q: 7. Does this lens mount directly to a Nikon Z camera or is it using an adapter? -Thank you

A: The Lensbaby Velvet 56mm f/1.6 Lens for Nikon Z, will fit directly on the Nikon Z camera without any adapter.

Q: 8. Where is the Limited Ed made?

A: Lensbaby Velvet 56mm f/1.6 Limited Edition Lens for Canon EF (Black with Copper Accents) country of origin is USA.

Q: 9. What is the difference between the silver and the black Lensbaby Velvet 56?

A: The only difference between the two items are the color. It is purely a cosmetic color preference.

Q: 10. Is the EF version of this lens compatible with my Canon 90D?

A: The EF version is compatible with the Canon 90D.
