A: When you see the mechanics of this lens, you will understand why there is nor room for autofocus. Focus must first be done in non shifted mode and then shifted/ tilted. A: There is a good reason why there are no hoods for very wide lenses; to wit, a hood that actually protects the lens from flare is also visible in the frame.My rule of thumb to make sure no light is flaring or causing ghosts on my lens is this: From moderately wide to tele lens length, I use lens hoods, or matte boxes or adjustable sunshades on the camera to block the spurious light. However, on very wide lenses, the flare has to be flagged at the light source that is causing the problem. Even outside and it is the sun hitting the lens, use a grip flag on a stand to stop the direct light of the sun. Do not have such equipment? Then have a friend hold any rectangular object so the the flare from the sun is blocked. How to know it is working? Make sure the shadow of the flag covers the front element of the lens. Nikkor lenses are among the finest in the world. The lens coatings on this lens are no less than that. You can be sure that for all but the most direct specular light rays, light hitting this lens will be flare and ghost free.
