A: The extension tube only focuses at the lens minimum focus distance with the extension attached. If your extension tube combination exceeds the amount of mm of your lens it can not focus because the magnification is higher than what's permitted by the optics in the lens.

A: F mount is the same bayonet mount Nikon has used since the first F model film cameras with interchangeable lens. It is a a quarter turn to lock in place.

A: I've used this extension tube with this lens and it does work. With this particular lens there is a very short shooting distance from the subject (there is a chart on the fuji website). You might get more use out of the 11mm tube when using the 23mm lens depending on what you need it for.

Q: 8. Do I need an adapter ring for use with my D100(52mm)?

A: Extension tubes go between the camera body and the lens, and have the same mounts as the lens and camera body do. Your 52mm reference to your D100 indicates the front filter thread size of whateve particular lens you have - these tubes do not connect or iterface with the front of your lens. You would remove the lens, apply the extension tubes in its place, and then reapply the lens onto the exentions tubes. The tubes literally extend the distance between the camera's sensor plane and the rear element of glass in the lens which will result in decreased minimum focus distance and gained magnification.
