The Shure SLXD4D is a dual-channel digital wireless receiver compatible with all SLX-D transmitters and housed in a rugged single-rack chassis with two removable antennas. It is ideally suited for rackmounting in portable flight cases and long-term installations for small- to medium-sized venues, event spaces, conference rooms, houses of worship, and education facilities.
The system delivers crystal-clear, 24-bit digital audio with a wide dynamic range for natural vocal reproduction to presenters, vocalists, clergy, lecturers, and performers. It operates in the UHF band and uses Digital Predictive Switching Diversity technology to protect the transmission from interference and deliver a solid, reliable RF signal without dropouts.
The all-metal rackmount SLXD4D receiver offers intuitive LCD interfaces with meters for RF and audio output. It also offers 60 dB of gain control, and both mic/line XLR and 1/4" instrument outputs for each channel. Additional features include automatic frequency scanning and IR sync to easily link the transmitter and receiver to the same frequency.
You can run up to 32 mics simultaneously in the same space. Setting up multiple systems is made quick and easy via the Ethernet port which allows you to execute a coordinated frequency scan for all the connected receivers from a single location.

- The SLX-D delivers 24-bit digital audio with a fast transient response and over 120 dB of dynamic range—resulting in clear, accurate sound.
- The system operates in the J52: 558 to 602 + 614 to 616 MHz MHz UHF band with a 46 MHz tuning range and 1840 selectable frequencies, far away from potential Wi-Fi interference in the 2.4 GHz band.
- Digital Predictive Switching Diversity uses a microprocessor to switch between the two antennas for the cleanest signal—before dropouts occur.
- Low latency makes the system ideal for applications that require live sound reinforcement.
- Spectrum-efficient digital transmission technology allows for up to 32 mics to be used at once.
- Up to 10 compatible systems per 6 MHz TV band and 12 systems per 8 MHz band are supported.
- Ethernet networking saves you time with coordinated group scanning between multiple receivers from a single location; TCPI command streams from third-party companies such as AMX and Crestron are also supported.
- Housed in a tough, single-rack metal chassis with detachable antennas, the SLXD4D receiver is a great fit for A/V installations or as part of a portable rackmount rig—ready to travel to a meeting or event.
- The SLX-D is engineered to provide outstanding sound for small- to medium-sized spaces and facilities—without costly, complicated features required primarily for large venues.
- Intuitive front-panel controls and a high-contrast LCD screen with audio and RF meters makes set up a snap.
- The auto-scan function automatically seeks out the cleanest available frequency for you. The receiver and transmitter then easily link to the same frequency via infrared.
- The receiver offers up to 60 dB of adjustable gain, and the display shows you where the ideal level should be.
- Adding UA874 active antennas or PA805SWB passive antennas increases the range of your system and offers increased protection against interference.
- The UA844+SWB antenna distribution system (available separately) lets you stretch the power of your antenna pairs, giving you more on-air channels in less setup time.
Related Questions and Answers
Q: 1. Does anyone know if you can use both mics at the same time, using only one of the XLR outputs? I have PA with only one input.
A: Yes, the Shure BLX288/PG58 is a dual-channel wireless handheld microphone.
Q: 2. Can this system expand to 16 microphones?
A: Yes, however: The receiver on this system is a single channel receiver (just like one radio receiver, it will only be able to "tune" into one radio station). This system accommodes/includes 16 channels that are available, individually to a single transmitter, choosing one of the 16 channels available on the receiver.. If 16 microphones are needed (0r any number from 2 up to 16), an additional system (another microphone with another transmitter) may be used in the same area.
Q: 3. Can the receiver connect to my mirrorless camera or computer to livestream a presentation?
A: Yes, you will just need to connect the Shure BLX88 Receiver to the camera's audio input or to an audio interface like B&H # FOSSOLO4G to allow for livestreaming.
Q: 4. Are there external antennas?
A: Only on the belt pack. The receiver and handheld mic have internal antennae.
Q: 5. I have two of these units installed in a 40' x 50' room connected via unbalanced outputs to a Dennon PA Amp. Everything works well with all 4 mics when testing the system in an empty room. Once they hold a meeting and fill the room with about 80 people, there is popping and cracking noises. They have shut done all but one of the mics and that seems to solve the problem. I even spread out the operating channels for the mics to prevent interference between the transmitters. Any suggestions as to the source of the problem?
A: Mine make popping sounds as well. I have used many brands in the past. I'm not a fan of the infra red system, it wastes time and they are still not clear. My Voco Pros work good, but that is a four mic rack system.
Q: 6. Are these Mics UHF?
A: Yes. These microphones are UHF operating at 584 - 608 MHz
Q: 7. Where it is made?
A: China
Q: 8. Do these come with the appropriate cables to feed out to a mixer?
A: It does not. You will need 2 mic cables.
Q: 9. Shure BLX 1288/CVL-J10 is this rack mountabled??
A: No it isn't. I used a 1U rack shelf and used command strips to secure it.
Q: 10. Will this system be impacted by the recent re-allocation of portions of the the 600mhz frequency ranges to cell phone companies? Or is their use illegal?
A: The bandwidth referred to collectively as the 600 MHz band includes frequencies from 617 to 698 MHz. Since this product operates below this space, it will not be affected by the reallocation.
