Intentionally bright (especially in the center) for making digital copies of slides with close up focus setting of a digital camera. Reproduction of the color slide colors and digital photo quality is excellent with the soft white bulb. The slide sorter is of excellent quality and convienience for reviewing slides or copying them with a digital camera.

A: I have never used it for the purpose of viewing negatives but my assumption is that it would work but I'm not sure that it would be the best solution. Negatives tend to curl and this item has no capability to hold the negative flat. It may prove cumbersome at best. Great for slides though.
