Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this bag waterproof?

A: No, the Lowepro Passport Sling III, is not waterproof.

Q: 2. Does this strap works with a Nikon pro-body, like D3 or D4?

A: Yes, it can work on a larger camera like a D3 or D4.

Q: 3. will this work with a Panasonic HC-WXF991K 4K Ultra HD Camcorder?

A: Yes, the tripod will work but for video you really want to use a video tripod head not a ball head.Below are some examples of video heads.

Q: 4. I am currently using a nikon d700 with battery grip and a tamron 70-200mm f 2.8 would this bag fit this with a extra lens and battery or would it be too tight?

A: HI Ryan...I love this bag...but as others have said...it may be tight but it certainly is manageable! You will love this bag! I sure do!

Q: 5. Can I fit an 11 MB AIR in the space provided for a tablet?

A: Sorry - just saw this e-mail. I think it would be tight to put the 11 MC Air in the bag. If you don't have too much else (photo equipment) in I think it would fit. I only use my bag for photo and I can get a lot in the bag of that. I love the bag! Glad I bought it!

Q: 6. Hey guys, I have the RRS camera plate on my Sony a7R. Would that fit RRS plate fit this ballhead?

A: As the Q Series Double Action Ball Head on the MeFOTO BackPacker Travel Tripod (Titanium) is compatible with Arca-Swiss type quick release plates, yes, the Really Right Stuff quick release plate should be compatible for use with the above tripod/ball head setup.

Q: 7. Will this work with a Canon 5D Mark III ?

A: It will work with a 5D, but if you want to be able to use larger lenses and have a proper ballhead for vertical mode I would recommend the RoadTrip or GlobeTrotter model.

Q: 8. It looks like the main compartment would easily accommodate my Lumix FZ1000 and a flash unit. Would 8x42 roof prism binoculars fit in the expandable front compartment? Thanks.

A: Yes, but it may be a bit bulky, you may have to arrange things to get the right fit.

Q: 9. How does the twist-lock mechanism hold up over time? I photograph at the beach a lot and am worried about sand.I'm not very familiar with ball-heads - will they support my Bronica SQ ok? (It's under 8 pounds).

A: For my experience, I have a Fujifilm X-E1 with a telephoto lense and flash attachment. Altogether I don't think there are more than 8 pounds of load, but I like the twist-lock mechanism and its convenience. It's been holding up quite well for my hiking and mountain bike trips. I have gotten it wet with sand a few times and I usually wipe everything down after removing the parts. The thing you'll have to be careful is water, they tend to sip inside the legs where you twist to loosen it for extension, as that motion might bring water further in. I do say removing everything and putting it back together will do, but it's a 10-15 minutes task - but hey, it's all for keeping the equipment in good shape!

Q: 10. Can it be used as a monopod via removal of center column?

A: Does not have a removable leg like others I have owned. But extending the main tube and one leg can be used as a 54 monopod.

I took my MeFOTO backpacker tripod on a trip last week. I love it! It is small and sturdy enough for me (I have a mirrorless camera). I don't mind unscrewing the 4 sections of the legs because I just kept it set up and put it in the trunk of the car between stops. The pink color got a lot of comments. Some people thought the pink was really cool, others seemed to think it's not professional enough. I don't care - I really like it. The quality seems quite good for a small travel tripod. My only complaint is that the plate that attaches the camera to the tripod needed tightening with a nickel several times. But when tightened enough, it stayed. I'm very happy I bought this tripod even though I have a larger Manfrotto for other situations.

MeFOTO Backpacker Travel Tripod is perfect for my 5D camera. You bet I mean for traveling. Of course, I have the real thing as the main tripod but it would be too big a burden to carry it around the world. :-)

Purchased BackPacker about 18 months ago and continue to be impressed with this product. The miniature dimensions when folded were the purchase driver at the time, can carry this tripod in my backpack, which makes it easy to carry anywhere - bicycle, hiking. Since I mostly take train and landscape pictures, this tripod is essential. Using D7000 with mid-weight (f2.8/f3.5 zooms from Sigma) lens, BackPacker is sturdy and supports the weight comfortably. Has been to fresh, salt water, sand and mud and there are no signs of wear and tear on it. This tripod is easily worth paying up to 50% more for.

I am really impressed with the overall quality of the tripod for the size and price. Yes, there are other travel tripods out there, but not for anywhere near this price and not with an Arca-Swiss ballhead. It feels well made and the legs work smoothly. It isn't the tallest tripod and you have to extend the center column to get it up to usable standing height, but it is as advertised. This is NOT some flimsy, box store discount tripod. It is a very professionally made but inexpensive travel tripod. In my experience, there is not better bargain in the carry-on bag sized tripods out there.I would suggest you compare the weights between the aluminum and carbon fiber versions. With this many leg sections and connectors, etc., there is very little weight savings between the aluminum and carbon fiber. Hard to justify spending more for CF on this type of tripod. The little case it comes with is decent as well. You won't be able to use this for an all around tripod for your 600 f/4, but for a smaller 300 or 400mm f/5.6 lens, it is plenty strong enough. Having said that, I did mount my old 500 f/4.5 APO (8 lbs) in a Wimberly Sidekick on it and it was stable enough for use in a pinch.

I used this tripod at track events. Easy to expand and the legs can be adjusted so that it takes up less floor space.

I bought this tripod for our trip to New Zealand and it does not disappoint! It's light enough to fit into either my carry-on or checked baggage. Any larger or heavier, and I probably would've rued the day I decided to lug it with me. Extremely sturdy and very well-made. I don't fear for my camera's safety when it's mounted on there.

Fits in a saddlebag, small size and lightweight. Works well with my 5D and 7D. Beats trying to bungee a full size tripod on the back of the bike.

I travel a lot and love this tripod. It is lightweight, compact and comes with a carrying back so I can slip it over my shoulder.
