The Polymaker 2.85mm PolySmooth Filament is designed for hands-free post processing. PolySmooth is PVB based, which is more hygroscopic than PLA, so it requires a dry box. However, it can be post processed very easily with IPA for a smoother surface finish.

A: I have never used it for the purpose of viewing negatives but my assumption is that it would work but I'm not sure that it would be the best solution. Negatives tend to curl and this item has no capability to hold the negative flat. It may prove cumbersome at best. Great for slides though.

A: I use Sylvania CFL 23 Watt,( 100 watt replacement,)1640 lumens soft white bulb. Intentionally bright (especially in the center) for making digital copies of slides with close up focus setting of a digital camera. Reproduction of the color slide colors and digital photo quality is excellent with the soft white bulb. The slide sorter is of excellent quality and convienience for reviewing slides or copying them with a digital camera.

A: It appears the Logan Electric 12 x 16" E-Z View Slide Sorter #1055 - Holds 40 Slides has a 60 watt incandescent rating. If you are looking for a lamp for your usage needs, I would recommend the Eiko Medium Base Self-Ballasted CFLi Lamp (23W, 120 VAC), B&H # EISP23, as a good option for your usage needs.

Q: 9. Currently I am using this with an 8' usb cable. What is the longest usb cable length that it will work with?? At what length would I need a fiber optic type usb cable??

A: In general the maximum length you can expect a good connection from a USB cable is thought to be about 5 meters. For lengths over 5 meters an active repeater or fiber optic cable is recommended.

Q: 10. I have some slides that are covered in glass. Will they fit ?

A: If the overall size of the slides are the same as cardboard mounted slides, then yes, they will fit.
