An ideal protective filter for outdoor use, the 86mm UV Haze 2A from Tiffen is a clear UV filter that helps to reduce haze and unwanted blue color casts when photographing at high altitudes or near water. The 2A strength of this filter is more effective that the standard Haze-1 filter at reducing haze and is especially well-suited for aerial and drone photography applications. Additionally, as a clear filter, it can also be used as general protection for the front of your lens to guard against scratches, fingerprints, dust, and other elements.

The filter is constructed using Tiffen's ColorCore technology, which involves laminating the filter material between two pieces of optical glass, grounding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, and mounting within an aluminum alloy ring. The coarse thread version of the filter has a thread pitch of 1.0.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does filter interfere with the use of the lens hood on the Sigma 150-600 Sport?

A: it won't interfere with the hood but it will affect the Auto focus, may hunt a little.

Q: 2. Hi, What is the exat difference between Tiffen Haze 1 and Haze 2A filters? I don't see any clear difference, besides the cost. Thank you!!

A: Hi Aquiles,According to Tiffen, the 2A absorbs all ultraviolet light, whereas the 1 absorbs only 71% of UV. Film and sensors detect UV as additional brightness in subjects like the sky even though our eyes don't, so a UV filter renders photos that are closer to what we perceive. I think you will see slightly richer colors overall with the 2A, but the 1 would make a noticeable improvement. You won't be able to see a difference by just looking through the filter because our eyes naturally filter out the UV.If the extra cost bugs you, go with the Type 1. It will improve your photos as compared with no filter. If you want to get the bluest sky, the Type 2A is better. Incidentally, a polarizing filter can do an even better job of darkening the blue in the sky.Jim

Q: 3. Is the B+W 95mm UV Haze SC 010 Filter thin enough to allow you to mount the Canon Lens Hood ET-101 on the Canon RF 800mm lens without unscrewing the filter?

A: While the B+W 95mm UV Haze SC 010 Filter has been discontinued and is no longer available for purchase at B&H Photo, and has not been directly tested on the Canon RF 800mm f/11 IS STM Lens, it should be possible to use the B+W 95mm UV Haze SC 010 Filter on the Canon RF 800mm f/11 IS STM Lens while using the Canon ET-101 Lens Hood.

Q: 4. Is the single coating on one side of the filter or both sides?

A: This coating is on both sides of the filter. Each glass surface includes one layer of anti-reflection coating.

Q: 5. Will this filter fit on a Canon EF 70-200mm lens?

A: It depends upon which version of the 70-200mm you have: the f/4 versions have a 67mm filter thread, while the f/2.8 versions have a 77mm thread. Check exactly which version you do own (there are five by now!) and look at the filter thread or filter size in specs.

Q: 6. Will this filter work with a Canon 70-300mm USM IS telephoto lens?

A: yes it will and a good solid uv filter

Q: 7. Would this be recommended for use indoors?

A: Yes, UV filters are generally used these days as protect filters. Usually people leave them attached at all times.

Q: 8. Does this filter have threading on the front so you can stack other 77mm filters in front of it? In other words, does it have dual threading (front and back)?

A: yes it does, but if you have FX, it may cause Vignetting.....look into the slim version if you intend to stack on FX

Q: 9. Se puede instalar un filtro polarizado sobre este ?

A: Si puede instalar un filtro polarizado sobre este filtro

Q: 10. Does It fit in front of a Sigma 300-800 EX DG ?

A: No it does not. The front of the Sigma 300-800 EX DG lens is not threaded to be able to accept any type of conventional screw-on front filter. It has a special 46mm filter holder in the rear of the lens.
