A: This is regular BARE drive. If your DVR requires some special embedded software, you need drive from manufacturer of DVR. It works for most of the DVRs I use for.

A: If your recorder uses 3.5 inch drives with SATA connectors, this drive should work just fine. I am 99% sure that your recorder uses SATA drives. Its industry standard. Check the owners manual for maximum supported drive capacity. I know that some recorders have drive size limits and if you install a drive that is of bigger capacity than recorder can support, you may have issues. My Lorex NVR supports two 2TB hard drives and this drive was literally plug-and-play. Good luck.
