Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I have an AXIS P5655-E Network Camera, can I put in the IP of the camera into the NVD-35 and it can decode that to SDI?

A: The NVD-35 does accept numerous protocols such as RTSP. If the camera offers that output such as RTSP, the Datavideo should pick it up.

Q: 2. How can the comms port be setup and used from switcher side to camera operator side?

A: To utilize the comms port on the BirdDog Flex 4K HDMI In to Full NDI Encoder, communication software would be needed. You can find a compatible software here: https://bhpho.to/3YnzJQL.

Q: 3. Can I decode (and switch between) multiple camera feeds with this decoder?

A: It is not designed switch between multiple camera feeds. It is designed to operate as a point to point system receiving and displaying 1 video feed.

Q: 4. Does the device accept HLS link from CDN and output HD/SD SDI?

A: this will decode standard RTP/RTSP, RTMP, and UDP and output an SDI signal

Q: 5. Is this unit actively cooled with a fan?

A: The Flex 4K NDI has unmatched thermal design and whisper quiet fans.

Q: 6. Can I take an RTMP from Boxcast and decode it to an sdi output? does it work with an mp4 rtmp file as well?

A: The Datavideo decoder is designed to decode any and all RTMP signals and send it out via SDI.

Q: 7. Is the L-series plate removable?

A: Unfortunately, the L series plate is not removeable.

Q: 8. Can I use this as an NDI Source in OBS or Xsplit Broadcaster? Do I need the transmitter to be on the same network as the receiving device?

A: Yes, an NDI workflow is compatiable with X-Split and OBS. The transmitter does need to be on the same network, it's integral to how NDI functions. Evey component of this workflow has to be NDI compatiable.Newtek has plugins and software available to make your computer, OBS, and Xsplit Broadcaster NDI compatible on their website.

Q: 9. Can the NVD-35 Mark II decode up to 4 pairs of audio (8 channels) via the HD-SDI embedded output in SRT mode?

A: No, the Datavideo NVD-35 Mark II Streaming IP Video Decoder with SDI Output can only output up to four channels of audio via SDI.

Q: 10. Does anyone have real world experience with what the latency would be when you decode the signal back to hdmi?

A: The amount of latency will vary depending on a number of factors such as how many devices are on the network The types of devices on the network the bandwidth of the network switch or devices used to create the network. We typically recommend NDI for internet broadcasts or recording as these situations are not affected by latency or present opportunity to fix latency issues via Video/Audio Delay settings We typically do not recommend NDI for venues where the output will be displayed in the same room as the live content as there is always a delay. while it is possible to minimize the delay it is not possible to eliminate it and for most venues that is a deal breaker.
