Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Are there two types of Xm - 55 mics? Because I see some with a low cut filter and others with the red light... Are they the same mic?

A: The product we are offering is the genuine article from Vidpro which includes the red operating LED and the sensitivity switch.

Q: 2. Will this work with a Fuijifilm S8600?

A: The Fujifilm FinePix S8600 Digital Camera is not capable of connecting to an external mic due to the cameras lack of an external mic input. In order to capture higher quality sound than the camera is capable of on its own, you will need to use an external audio recorder, and marry sound to video via editing software.

Q: 3. Will this work with Pentax K-30 & K-3?

A: This mic will work with the Pentax K-3 but not the K-30, which has no microphone input.

Q: 4. How does this mic compare to the Rode VideoMicro ($59)?On a boom pole and mounted on the camera?

A: The XM-55 is a traditional shotgun mic with higher directionality than the VideoMicro. Will be compatible with more devices as it is able to be battery powered, and will ship with mounting hardware and cables to connect to most cameras and recorders.

Q: 5. Hi I just got this and it is working ok but I'm getting a small sequel in my headphones when connecting to a rodecaster. Not sure if it is the rodecaster setup? I tried different headphones.

A: Make sure that phantom power on the RodeCaster Pro is turned off since the Vidpro XM-55 is powered by a battery. Also make sure that the mic is not picking up audio from a speaker. If neither of these issues are the source of the noise, please contact us by phone or through live chat on the website and we can help you to troubleshoot.

Q: 6. The female pins in the XM-55 are too small for the XLR connectors. It's so tight that I'm afraid that I'll pull the thing apart just to change the battery. Are others having this problem?

A: I use this mic and the XLR connection is snug but not too tight that I fear of pulling it apart. I've plugged and unplugged this mic on several occations.

Q: 7. will this work with an iphone or android phone? I see it come with a 3.5mm connector.

A: Yes - with this adapter: Rode SC4 3.5mm TRS to TRRS Adaptor B&H # ROSC4

Q: 8. What do you think is better quality mic, price is olmost the same: this mic or the rode mic go on camera ?a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1012003-REG/rode_videomic_go_videomic_go_on_camera_shotgun.html target= _blank http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1012003-REG/rode_videomic_go_videomic_go_on_camera_shotgun.html/a

A: The Rode VideoMic Pro is my recommendation as a better performer with a more robust build quality. Note the 10 year warranty as well.

Q: 9. Can this mic accept phantom power via XLR?

A: Yes, it accepts a AA battery for boards that do Not have phantom power and a switch to turn the mic on, it even comes with a battery and a hole cut in the foam to store the battery. I use it in the field only with my Zoom H6 that has Phantom power and I choose to have it on while recording most of the time. I usually put the battery in and turn it on so I don't drain power from my portable unit even though the drain is minimal on my H6.

Q: 10. How long is the cable?

A: The short one is 16 inches and the long one 26 feet.
