Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this come with a carrying case ?

A: Yes, the MeFOTO RoadTrip S Travel Tripod (Aluminum, Green) would include a carrying case.

Q: 2. Is this tripod suitable for vertical portrits as well? Looking for a video + stills tripod.

A: The SmallRig 4221 Travel Video Tripod Kit has a fluid head without a ballhead. For shooting vertical, the camera will need to be turned on its side with either a cage or an L-bracket.

Q: 3. Does this kit indeed come with the K-10 II ball head? I'm seeing it packaged with the E-10 ball head elsewhere online

A: The Sirui T-1005 Aluminum Travel Tripod with K-10 II Ball Head includes the Sirui K-10II Ball Head, BH #SIK10II.

Q: 4. If the center column can be removed, can another ball head be attached to it?

A: Yes. You can change the head on the SmallRig AP-02 Lightweight Aluminum Travel Tripod.

Q: 5. The ball head doesn't seem to tighten and stays a little wonky. What's the trick to getting it tight?

A: The MeFOTO RoadTrip S Travel Tripod has two knobs on the head that both need to be tightened for no movement. One knob controls the pan, and one knob controls the ball.

Q: 6. how many locking positions and angles do the legs have?

A: There are 3 locking positions on the legs of MeFOTO RoadTrip S Travel Tripod.

Q: 7. Can I use my Oben BE117 on this?

A: Yes, as the Oben BE-117 Ball Head with Arca-Type Quick Release has a 3/8"-16 female tripod socket on the base of the tripod head and the MeFOTO RoadTrip S Travel Tripod (Aluminum, Red) has a 3/8"-16 male threaded screw on the top of the center column (when you remove the included head), the Oben BE-117 Ball Head may be used on the MeFOTO RoadTrip S Travel Tripod (Aluminum, Red).

Q: 8. Does anyone know about this tripod? Is it reliable, sturdy and well built? How about the head? Can it hold a NIKON D90, D7000, or D610 with battery grips and possibly a 300MM lens?

A: This is a very well built and reliable tripod that has an 18 pound load capacity. It will be able to handle any of the cameras you listed.

Q: 9. Is tripod head removable? I'd like to use a different tripod head.

A: You can change the head on the MeFOTO RoadTrip S Travel Tripod (Aluminum, Blue).

Q: 10. Will the peak design capture clip work with this tripod?

A: The Peak Design Capture Camera Clip is compatible with the SmallRig AP-02 Lightweight Aluminum Travel Tripod with Arca-Type Ball Head.

I bought this tripod for use in tropical rain forests for supporting a Nikon 82mm spotting scope. It's lightweight and easy to set up. It folds down small enough to fit in a mini daypack along with the scope. The tab locks for the leg segments make setting it up a breeze.

What more could you ask for? This is a much better fit for me and my lifestyle than the previous tripod I had. May not be up to professional standards, but it works great for the amateur, moderate tripod user. Haven’t had it long enough to attest to the durability over time, but I’ll update this review if things start falling apart too quickly!

Great tripod that is convertible to become a monopod. This one I keep in my trunk.

Pros: Very compact, very lightweight. The ball head that comes with it is very good. Conversion to monopod is also easy. This is my first experience with the twist-lock legs and I am very pleased. It does come with a simple case that seems pretty durable.

The little spike feet work terrific in sand - I'm shooting with this on a beach in SW Florida.

Cons: None, really - it's designed so you can hang a camera bag or weight bag off a hook on the center - this works, but it's pretty steady without. I tested it at home on carpet in super-low light and it had some shake for a very long exposure on a telephoto lens.

Considered a travel tripod because I have two other not-so-travel tripods. My go-to option has always been a Benro monopod with video head - which I love - but it's not super small and has some limitations.

Got this RoadTrip S on sale. Studied the reviews; don't think the negative reviews are realistic. For anyone just beginning to a fairly experienced shooter I think you'll be very happy with this.

I am shooting with: Canon 6D Mark II - variety of lenses, from a Tamron 28-75mm to a Tamron 70-200mm. This tripod handles even the 70-200mm without feeling wobbly on the ball head; it's obviously better when it's lower, but it's not terrible with legs fully extended.

I don't think you're going to shoot astrophotography or very detailed long exposures with this. As a travel tripod & monopod, or even for pretty regular everyday use, I really am very pleased and would recommend this. Great gift - on sale, we ordered one as a gift as well.

As always order and shipping from B&H were just perfect.
