Just the right amount of metallic sheen without excessive gloss. Really great looking paper!

I printed out an underwater photo and there was detail visible that I did not see on the screen. Colors are wildly vibrant and it's well worth the price.

I have done a project to compare 5 papers for an inkjet look-alike to Ilfochrome. I printed them on an HP Photosmart 8750 using HP Vivera original inks and let the printer manage colors, (which it did fine). My image was color and had a wide gamut from black to white and everything in-between. I compared the prints for gamut, depth of color (subjective), white base, and ease of handling and cost. Pictorico Hi-Gloss White Film, Ilford Prestige Galerie Hi-Gloss Smooth, Moab Metallic Silver 300, Kodak Professional Metallic and Inkpress Metallic Gloss were the five. The results were the following: For gloss: Pictorico and Ilford 5 (best), Moab 3 and Kodak and Inkpress 4. For white base: Pictorico and Ilford 5, Inkpress and Kodak 4 and Moab 3. For color depth: Inkpress 5, Kodak 4, Ilford 3, Pictorico and Moab 2. The choice for me as the best match for Ilfochrome was between Kodak and Inkpress, because I prefer the depth of color shown by the metallic substrate paper. The inkpress looked almost 3 dimensional. Based on the image itself, I woiuld probably favor the Kodak as a general rule, but Inkpress is my first choice for images that can really benefit from the look of the Inkpress Metallic Gloss printing. Just how to describe that is difficult, but you know it when you see it. Unfortunately, providing an image here is not helpful, since the monitor will not duplicate the actual look of the paper. Cost is what drives me to the Kodak Pro Metallic, but maybe others don't find that a major factor.

I have historically shot and printed purely B&W.
Only in the last couple of years (I'm 75) have a I shot and printed 85% B&W and 15% color!

I'm a picky chap, I know what I like and what I don't like, and I'm not very forgiving.

Thus, Hahnemuhle Fine Art Bartya 325gsm has been my paper of choice for well over a decade, that is until I stumbled upon Inkpress Metallic Gloss!

About a year ago, I got the bug to just test a few metallic papers with some of my favorite image files, why not. Tested about 6 types, a couple quite expensive, and at first NONE met my standards!

Then I tested the subject paper and I have not left it!!

The images are striking! Pop, great detail in the extremes of the dynamic range, and a sense you could reach into it.

I do have two issues with the Inkpress paper that are just what we have to live with:
1. It is very easy to crease the paper, so you need to handle it with care. Just modest care, nothing that is a real pain, but be a little more careful because once creased, it is there to stay!

2. Paper sizes are not as broad as the Baryta I'd been using. I also find stock runs out about the time I need a new roll or box! Inventory control does not seem to be an Inkpress strength.
I know it is not a B&H issue as more than one source will find nothing at the factory available.

I have now built my own profile for it in both B&W and Color with my X-Rite unit. Image only got better.

In short, it is worth a try.

For the right image, this paper is spectacular! I wouldn't recommend it for portraits*, my specialty, but I've used it for flowers and it's stunning. On the down side, it's expensive. *For portraits, I find Inkpress Luster gives the best results.

This metallic paper produces some of the best results I've seen with photo paper. The images are crisp, clear, vivid and almost 3D looking. I am very pleased with the results.
