Q: 1. This seems to be a copyright infringement on Arca Swiss Cube. Is it the same item distributed by another company or a copy?

A: While I have not been able to find the original press release for the Photo Clam Multiflex Head with Arca-Type Plate, from what I could find, it appears the geared head was released sometime around 2013. While I could not find a reply as to if it is an exact copy of the Arca Swiss Cube or is it is a similar/modified geared head (nor could I find if the original patent had expired), the two items do seem very similar in appearance, though they do have small differences in usage and specifications.

Q: 2. Will the battery door be able to be opened and closed to change out batteries with the bracket still on?

A: The Photo Clam L-Plate for Hasselblad X2D allows the battery door to open in the same manner as if it were part of the camera body, enabling complete access to the battery.

Q: 3. can i remove the side plate from the base plate?

A: The L-component on the Photo Clam L-Plate for Nikon Z8 can be removed from the base plate.

Like everyone else, for years I simply used a generic plate on the Canon lens foot for my Arca-Swiss tripod clamp. But they tended to loosen over time, slip, or worse yet, twist. Then of course I found a foot with an anti-twist lip at the back, so that helps, but I still had to add some protective gaffer tape to the Canon foot to keep it from getting scratched.

With this Arca-Swiss custom fit lens plate, it fits perfectly (the machining is quite top-notch) and the profile is almost as low as the Canon foot by itself. And of course, there is absolutely no possibility of it twisting anymore.

My only wish is that it would have a slot for attaching a strap. My older, clunkier generic one did, and I used a single Op/Tech USA quick disconnect male end there so I could attach a hand strap, longer shoulder strap.

Well constructed, fits seamlessly and I don’t notice the additional weight. The additional arcs plate gives an extra inch or so that helps grip it from the tripod plate more comfortably.

I purchased this for my Canon RF 100-500mm f4.5-f7.1 L IS USM lens because I didn't need or like the bulk or cost of the Kirkland version. At first the fit is a bit loose, but snug up the screw, making sure the shoe is aligned on the foot and it holds nicely.
